Thanks for the update, Carol.  :thanks:

Poor Wilma, RIP beautiful lady.  :(

And Bootsey, sending all my bestest poo vibes for you sweetie :care:

Anastasia's nose looks amazing considering what she's been through, your vet is a wonder. Hope it's done the trick.  :crossed:

Those kittens are just gorgeous, such a shame there are so many of them again this year. I love the expression on Hayley's face, bless her  :Luv2:

Hope Tiggy is well enough to be spayed soon so she can be re-united with her babies.  :)

More pics of the Croppers and one of Troy watching in amazement as Todd played enthusiastically in a crinkle tunnel that somebody kindly sent us.  Its huge and covers the entire floor area which is why Troy was perched on the steps.  :evillaugh:   Topsy and Tyson were being antisocial (a rather worrying trait of theirs).

Loving the pics of Bee and Bayleaf.  Do you have trees in your garden Mark? If you do I expect Bee to take more than a passing interest in them now that she's going out.   :scared:

Mixed news from the Inn this time.   I’ve been slacking while Rob and Debbie have been under a lot of pressure both physical and emotional.

After 15 years as one of the Inn’s resident outdoor ferals, Wilma had to be helped to the bridge just over a week ago when she went rapidly downhill and it was discovered she had a mouth tumour.  In her later years she became very friendly and she is sadly missed. She made sure meals were always on time by meowing at the kitchen door when she knew they were due.  :Luv2:  Her friend Millie is now the only remaining outdoor feral although Darth Vader is making a bid to move in. We’re hoping we’ll be able to get him neutered but the wiley so-and-so has evaded capture for many years  as long-term followers will know, so watch this space.

We’ve been worried about Anastasia’s nose (which is cancerous) because its been getting worse and the vet said when it was first diagnosed that surgery was not an option.  However, he’s read that some vets have had success burning the tumour out rather than cutting it or using radiation, so this week she had the operation.  It’s the first time he’s ever used the probe on a nose (although he’s used it for mouths before) and he’s pleased with how it went so its now a matter of wait and see. Hopefully it will have bought her lots more quality time.  She was a bit dopey after the op but was back to her normal self and demanding cuddles the day after.  :Luv2:

Little Bootsie is not out of the woods yet regarding his rectal prolapse, in fact he has been causing a great deal of concern because of his inablilty to poo unaided.   :(  We’ve lost count of the number of operations and procedures he has had to endure but he’s remained happy, friendly and lively throughout, which makes the situation all the more heartbreaking, so please send him lots of Purrs vibes.

Despite our resolve to keep things at a manageable level the collapsible cages are proliferating, a situation not helped by the fact that Bootsie has had to be separated from his brother and best mate Smudge, so that we can monitor his poos (or lack thereof).  Tiggy has also had to be separated from her kittens so she can get some weight on her prior to spaying.  Then there’s the Cropper family,  :)  three 5-week old kittens that we took in a couple of weeks ago.  The boy (black and white) had already been named Royston and while it was obvious that one of the unnamed tabbies was a girl, we weren’t sure about the other, so as Coronation Street fans it was a no-brainer and they became Royston, Sylvia and Hayley/Harold.   They are of course adorable.  :Luv2:

Jerry has bagged himself a lovely home so I won’t get chance to slip him in my bag after all.  ;D  He’s a bit of a handful so we’re hoping that the two-year cat he will be sharing with is up to the task.  :-:

Hi Sue - Bayleaf and Bee are getting on very well... they're both quite confident now and spend most evenings in the lounge with me... Bee particularly likes the window ledge and watching the world go by :)

They're both quite vocal little kittys and have very cute miaows.

I've just started to let them outdoors - only for an hour or so at a time at the moment.  Bee is a real explorer but Bayleaf just sits on the doorstep looking a little bewildered  :scared:  I'm sure Bee will give her brother the confidence to go out in time though.

I've attached a couple of pictures - my camera phone is a bit knackered unfortunately but hopefully you'll get the idea.

Just popping by to ask how everyone is doing down at the Inn?   And how are Bee and Bayleaf getting on in their new home?

Sending love to all, and just wanted to say hoping all is good with hoomans and puds.

Litter tray activity is usually for life so whomever is kicking now will be kicking in years to come.  I suggest either pop the tray into a larger cardboard box to contain the shrapnel OR buy a soft broom and just sweep it away every few hours.

I sweep mine into a corner, it takes 5 seconds and once you have the routine in your head it's actually quite therapeutic  ;D Every now and again I pick it up in a dustpan and chuck it back in the litter tray. But then I'm not OCD about crumbs on the floor (and we have hard floors so it's easy peasy.)

That's lovely to hear  :) Sounds like Bee will take a little bit longer than Bayleaf but it will be even more rewarding when she learns to trust you 100%  :Luv2:

A solution for your litter issues... covered litter trays! If they've not used one before you may need to start with the flap off and add it on once they're confident in using it. I also wouldn't take away their regular litter tray immediately as they might get confused and go elsewhere

I also have hard plastic litter tray mats in front of my trays, which means any stray litter can just get poured straight back in.

There's a big selection here http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_litter_litter_boxes along with high sided ones that Liz mentioned.

If you do order through Zooplus then if you click on the link at the bottom of each page on Purrs you will get 10% off your first order, plus every time you click on that link and order then Zooplus donate 5% of your order total to the Purrs rescue fund (of which Paws Inn is one of the beneficiaries  ;D )

You can get high sided trays on Zooplus - I have some of the larger cat variety in my Norweigian Forest Cat Star 8.72kgs and my Ragdoll Casper 8.1kgs and some of my moggies are 7kgs and I have found that high sided open  :shocked:or high sided covered boxes work as my boys bury everything

Well, the 2 Bs (Bee & Bayleaf) have been with me for just over a week and are settling in well...  Bayleaf has become a very affectionate little boy very quickly and virtually demands cuddles and grooming.  Bee however is still quite timid (which I found quite surprising because she seemed the more outgoing of the two at the shelter) and is very reluctant to let me stroke or touch her.  I guess she needs a little more time.  Bee's quite an explorer though, given half a chance she's exploring every nook and cranny of the house.  She also likes sitting there watching me, whenever I'm about, whereas Bayleaf is quite content rolling around and generally being lazy  :)

One question for you purrs people - I'm not sure which cat it is, but one likes to kick all of the litter out of the tray (including their 'presents' :().  It's quite a big tray and I only put about 4 - 5 cms in but end up shovelling it back each morning which can be quite time consuming.  Any ideas how to remedy this?

Mark - Hi, and welcome to Purrs!!  :welcome:   Am absolutely delighted that you've offered your home to Bee and Bayleaf, who have had to wait far too long but clearly for a reason - their purrfect forever home.   :wow:  I know we all hope that you'll have years of boundless fun and love with these two.   :wow: :Luv:

Jerry's eyes are beautiful - very like Tinky's, Carol.  (who is not dissimilar in colouring all told)  ;D  I do wonder, when people do things like that with cats and kittens whetehr it is the owner, or whether it's a disgruntled neighbour etc - remember that dreadful woman who shut the cat in the wheelie bin, and her frantic owners were worried sick about their missing cat?

Bless Bootsie.  Am pleased to know he's still tearing around letting nothing stand in his way, and very much keeping everything crossed that this time his surgery has succeeded and he wont need to undergo anything further - let him enjoy life as an otherwise healthy little boy.   :Luv:

Pleased to hear Tiggy's kittens are all doing well.   :Luv:  Loving the Paws Inn updates .  Thanks Carol.

As for Jerry  :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: but then I may be a tiny bit biased as he does look very much like Algie when he was a kitten  ;D Thank goodness there were kind people nearby when he was dumped.

No kitten pics I'm afraid.  I needed my wits about me just trying to keep an eye on them, they were into everything.  I'll swear Troy and Tyson have  springs instead of paws.  They just bounced all the time.

Jerry is a bit of a Mr Cledford when it comes to cameras.  He just homes in on it as soon as I point it and all I get is out of focus pics of his face.  One such does show the unusual colour of eyes though (assuming they show up the same on your computer as they do on mine),  They're a light russet brown, very attractive.

:welcome: to Purrs Mark.  Nothing will give me greater pleasure than seeing Bee and Bayleaf settled in their new home but don't be despondent if it takes a while.  A year is a long time to be in rescue so its a big change for them.

You've made me realise that I'm very behind with my updates.  :-[  In brief, Bootsies's  prolapse didn't stay put after his first 2 ops and he had a third which was also a failure so had to have major surgery to remove the prolapsed bit of his intestine.  That was just over a week ago and his vet checks so far have been positive but this week is the real test when he's off the laxative and the painkiller.  I have to say it doesn't seem to be bothering him, he's still 100 mph kitten.   :Luv2:  The vet is a little bit in love with him but then we all are (and his brother Smudge of course).

We have a new resident Jerry, a 12 week old kitten who was dumped from a car.  >:(  A couple taking their dog for a late evening walk saw the car stop then drive away leaving him behind.   He's obviously been cared for and is well socialised and very friendly so how could they do that.  :Dont know:

Tiggy's  kittens are lovely and mischievous as ever.

Pics to follow when I get myself sorted.  I think I need a rainy day.  :innocent:

 :welcome: to Purrs Mark

This is just the best news  ;D So pleased for this beautiful pair  :wow: Can't believe they had to wait a whole year for someone to pick them! It's bound to be a bit unsettling for them in the early days as they've not had a home of their own before but I bet they'll get their feet under the table before you know it  :)

Very much looking forward to seeing pics of them as they settle in and will happily remove the news banner saying they need a home!  :wow:

Hello Paws Inn and Purrs People  :)

I'm Mark and I've just become the proud slave of Bayleaf and Bee, former residents of Paws Inn.   Just though I'd say hi.

The two little 'uns are currently hiding behind the armchair in my conservatory as I think they're still a little traumatised by the journey and the new surroundings.  They've started eating and drinking though so they seem ok :)

When they come out I'll take some pictures and you can see them in all their beauty.

No time for photography at the weekend because we were very busy but I did manage a few of Tiggy’s kittens.  ;)   She has no respite from them now because they can climb out of the bed so we decided it was time to try them on solid food and they love it.  They obviously take after their mum in that department.  :evillaugh:

Aw God love him.  What a pity - so little and already a surgical veteran.  Very much hoping that this will do the trick, and he wont have to undergo anything more invasive.

I promised you pics of the 2 newbies didn’t I?  Bootsie and Smudge came to us as 8 week old kittens about 2 weeks ago and they’re absolutely adorable.  :Luv2:  Poor Bootsie had a sore bottom that turned out to be a rectal prolapse which can be very serious if not treated.  It didn’t seem to be bothering him so because of his tender age the vet at first had us using creams to try to shrink it, hoping it would then right itself (apparently they sometimes do).  He tolerated our ministrations well bless him, but they had absolutely no effect whatsoever, so on Friday he had surgery – twice.   The first time it popped out again before he’d even left the vet’s.  Yesterday he was back at the vets for an emergency appointment because he was very much not himself and straining to poo.  Well it can’t be easy with your bottom sewn up can it?  :-:  The stitches had to be removed and its now a case of fingers crossed that everything stays where it should and his own muscles take over the task of keeping it there.  If not it will mean major surgery to shorten his intestine.  :scared:
