Odette is a nice name, I had a girlfriend called Odette, sigh!  Not a cat name though.  ;)

I was looking at Scottish girls names and I think I said Freya. Norse Goddess of love, apparently she was a bit of a party girl   :naughty:

Not Odette the glassware lady?

I wonder if the Giraffes head would go through a cat flap!

I'm glad your tooth is a little bit better, at least you got it done before the weekend.

Good luck with your search for kitties.  You're making me very cat broody,  I'm going to have to get my asthma sorted out!

WARNING : GRUMPY MOOD IN PROGRESS!  >:( >:( >:(

Sore teeth, couldn't sleep!  :-[

Up at 7 to go to dentist...........I don't do mornings!  :-[

Sore teeth cos been at dentist!  :-[

Found out just by chance why litter owners blocked me on Facebook after reserving a tortie. The 17 year old daughter was keeping a kitten, she promised one to her friend, unbeknown to her mother. Her mother had reserved one to her own friend, leaving no kittens. However, mum cancelled her friend so that we could have two because her friend was going to keep them indoors and she wanted them to be out door cats. But then ofcourse she couldn't give us two because her daughter was already giving one to her friend. So apparently the mother and daughter have now fallen out. So I have decided not to touch them with a barge poll and move swiftly on to my next quest. I'm seriously thinking of buying two giraffes.

Katie you poor thing! All this and toothache as well

How very strange about the people blocking you  :( I do agree that the perfect cat is out there somewhere but it might be that the time is not yet quite right. I know it is hard when you want this sooooo much though.

I hope your tooth got sorted quickly, it always happens at Christmas with me as well.

For the kitties, I think your soul cat/s is/are looking for you, and it will come when the time is right.  As the others have said it's probably the pre Christmas rush, but do persevere.

Here's my story but about dogs:  My Dad wanted a Labrador, I wanted a dark Westie/ Cairn, well we had to wait 2 years until Dads operation wounds healed (he was a diabetic so it took for ever).  Then when we were given the all clear, I went onto a rescue site and found my black Westie and phoned up about him, only to find out he was being rehomed with a lurcher (labrador/whippet cross)  Now hows that for coincidences - I think not.  Of course we adopted them both.

It just shows you how things come around.  I'm sure your kitties are out there, you just have to find each other when the times is right.

That's completely bizarre! Why on earth would she do that?!  >:(

I feel for you Katie, I know how much you want to find your kittens. Are you seeing the tabby at the weekend?

Hope the dentist wasn't too awful and has sorted out that toothache

Likewise, and I hope you get better cat related news soon too. Are you still in touch with the other owner?
If both fall through, don't despair, but you might have to wait until after Christmas. There may be more kittens available in the New Year. Sadly, there are still people who think pets make good Christmas presents, so you may have better luck once the demand dies down.

Demented with tooth ache, feel like someone has hit me with a shovel on the side of my cheek.

If I drink anything cool it's like torture. Off to bed to try and sleep cos I'm going to the dentist at 8.20am. :'(

Just as an aside,I tried to message the woman who has the tortie kitties cos she hasn't got back to tell us if we can have two or not. Well she has blocked us and we tried her daughter and she has blocked us too. We are now completely baffled.

Up one day down the next. It's beginning to do my head in.

I think I'll get two giraffes instead.

If you went along with the Beckham's, the cats could be called Liverpool or Birmingham - can you imagine the paw on their faces with shock of those names.

With my last pets I went through the name dictionary and found anything that had a dog meaning - I was adopting two dogs.

Here's some more to think of:

Galaxy, Cadbury, Rowntrees

Dr who,  Clara, Donna, Rose, Captain Jack

Star Trek
McCoy, Kirk, Katherine, James

Some of my favourites:
Victoria, Elizabeth, Morgan, Jasper, Harvey, Henry (as in King Henry 8th),  Max, Hannah,  and  Heather.

I think as I never had any kids I'll use the names for pets instead.  :)

Never thought of the vet thing Susanne, they do that here too?

Liking Madam and Monsieur, that made me laugh, imagine shouting that in a wee garden of a Scottish fishing village. The locals will be thinking the only gays in the village have gone completely mad!

And does it go with your surname?
I hadn't thought of that. Is this a new thing, and widespread, where the vet adds your surname to the pet's name? I only became aware of it when I took Lily to be spayed last year.

Yes, we have done a bit of quietly calling out just to see it doesn't sound too ridiculous.

Not sure about shouting seagull in the garden though Sue , all our French friends would have a fit of laughter.

How about 'ennui' which means trouble or nuisance!! or Nounours (teddy)?

All added to the list and then we'll decide. There's about 6 I really like but the OH doesn't., this could be interesting!!

There's always the Shakespeare link with Romeo and Juliet but they did come to a nasty end.  The same could be said for Odette, Violette, Peter and Noor  (all members of the SOE during WW2).  Then there is the sci fi link such as Leia, Luke, Han,   Picard, Janeway, and Q.

One thing to consider if they are going to go outside is calling the name!  Even Cfor can sound horrendous and rather embarassing.

I know Stella and Guinness (St Bernard and a Newfie), and we had Bubble and Squeak.

How about these:

Bruce/Wallace and Mary
Leigh and Fifth
Arty and Doyle  (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle)
Sherlock and Mrs Hudson

As far as my own cats were concerned they refused to come to any name they didn't like so chose their own names.  My last cat refused to come to Chleo but loved Chloe, so that stuck.

I am absolutely bent double laughing at your name suggestions..

Loved spurtle Sue , and Hoochter and Choocter Nic!

Mattice and Pablo Gill

Heather and Porridge have quite a ring to them Mary.

I will add them to my suggestion book and show them to the OH

We also have a liking for France so there's a whole realm of possibilities there.

I think I like old Scottish names like Angus and Maggie or food and drink things like Saffron or or Manuka.....
Oh there's one that stood out a bit, Manuka. Oh and I like Dram.

You lot have got me obsessed and I wasn't  even thinking that much about it. I've looked back and it was those hoolies who stared it off!   :innocent:

Now off to find a notebook. I wish the tabby was a boy! It would make it easier to name them.!!

Katie hope you dont mind but came in to try and see why the smilies didnt work, have even reput them in and still dont work! Just dont know why they wont  ......................  see if mine works!

Wha????? How did I miss this???

Where did this come from???? I've only been away a couple of days...due to studying and recovering lol.

One word....BRILLIANT!

Katie - first off, well done for jumping back on the cat-wagon so quickly. I'm sure Indie must have had some imput in that lol.

Secondly, after reading through the multiple posts that I have missed, I agree about the tabby and tortoishell and I am glad that you've seen them both as well.

Thirdly, names....OK....sounds like I need to add some Scottish names to my names list on here lol. I love Neeps and Tattie though :)

Looking forward to reading what happens.

Really proud of you Katie for staying a) with us and b) on the "mad-cat-wagon" lol.

The one night I go to bed earlier and nothing was happening in Purrs................this thread kicks off 30 mins later LOL, Was still awake at 0400 but only up an hour ago...............takes me a while to have meds eat and wake up!

Sooooooooooooooo two kittens yesssssssssssssssss and agree with what everyone has said  ;D ;D

So one tabby and one tortie girl................sounds graet and also feel a countdown starting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,how long between now and Christmas and them being ready, have lost how old they are

Scottish names, think I am a total failure there but hit this thread at Tattie and Neeps    Love those as names  ;D ;D

Well its got me off to a laughing start to my day, thank you everyone.

Of course would have to be Tattie the tortie and Neeps the tabby  :innocent:

I have got one tortie gurl and she is no trouble at all, just a semi feral but thats not her fault.  As for boi cats...............holds head in hands    Lupin the climbing, norty little horror but the youngest cat I have ever had. Big soft scaredy cat Misa who is so gentle but has certainly learned some cattitude from Lupin!

Then my two birman brothers from same litter who came to me at 13yrs and so different, one with 3 legs and that may be the reason cos he wasnt comfortable on laps and his jumping a bit restricted but think until he lost his leg was very much like Napoleon. Napoleon was heavier and such a cuddlebum, absoltely adorable, neither was any problem at all.

Misa and Sasa didnt love them but tollerated them and as time went by the 3 boys sorted themselves out, Misa and Naoleon would race for the same place on the bed at the right  of my head, Napoleon always won! So Misa then went lower down. Ducha (Dooka for the uninitiated lol) went straight to the left and on top of my head.............sigh.

Not sure how I ever slept!

Sasa just kept to herself and as far away as possible  :(

However think as baby kittens no problem at all and their purrrrrsonalities will show themselves as they grow up............probably total hoolies for ages

3 kittens    Did think about about 6

Until 2008 I had only had girl cats, singly. Except when I was growing up, then the most we had at once was 1 adult female, 8 kittens, 2 adult rabbits, 17 baby rabbits, a couple of hamsters, 4 white rats, half a dozen mice, two frogs, a hedgie and a crow. Don't ask
[/color]

..................... and a partridge in a Pear Tree :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Names - Heather and Porridge
