She's not great again, resps up and looking at her you can tell fluids building up, increased her fruisamide to every 8 hours to try and shift it. She's not eating properly, which I'm guessing is because she's uncomfortable, so me and daughter are giving her dreamies as at least she's eating something. If I can get to the shops (snow/ice is bad) we'll get her some chicken/salmon/tuna to tempt her. I've got all my fingers and toes crossed she's picks back up

It is,  he was really positive he said hopefully we could have a couple more months with her. He said Bella is such a lovely placid cat (he wouldn't have said that if he'd seen me getting her in her cat basket ) and it's lovely how she's bonded with dd

Just had Bella to the vets for her check up, he's pleased with her, says shes lots brighter than last time, so keep doing what we're doing and if not before see her in a month. Asked him about bellas boosters and he said not to bother having them done

She's okayish, bit sleepy but then eating all her food and she looks comfy.
Just got the remainder for her boosters for next month but can't decide if we should have them done or not.  Just think it's another stress she can do without

I swear she is trying to put me in a early grave. Just came down and couldn't find her anywhere, even rattling the dreamies didn't bring her out. Finally found her under the sofa and she still wouldn't come out for dreamies , mind went into overdrive has she had a stroke/broken a bone/got a blood cut, sofa to heavy for me to lift. On phone to dh in a panic when she walks out the other side of the sofa as if to say what are you on about, and yes she has had some of the dreamies

Thank you all for your kind  words, she's slowly picking up, she's back to eating most her food and is taking her medication with a few dreamies and bits of cheese as a bribe. I know the cheese isn't the healthiest but the vet said at this point it's more important to get the medication into her. Her breathing is settling her respiratory rate is 32 but the vet is happy with that given her heart.

Had a long chat with the vet and he's lovely, he said it sounds like she had a crisis but is slowly improving with the medication. At this point in time he thinks she's still got quality of life so wouldn't recommend putting her to sleep, but if she has another crisis it may well be time. Then found out she's got a temp, so he thinks she's got a virus and because everything came on so quickly that may have triggered her breathing problems. He said if that is the cause once she's better we may have her with us for a while longer, injection of antibiotics and he's dropped her furosemide to 2 times a day. Far better news then we were expecting :)

Sounds like the furosemide is doing its work.  It will make Bella very thirsty so need to ensure water bowls are kept topped up.  I used to medicate Boris every 8 hours so know well how tiring that is

One of the side effects of Furosemide to watch for is possible low potassium due to lots of peeing.  That showed itself with Boris with him going off food and unable to jump due to muscle weakness.

You're on a horrible ride but sounds like Bella more comfy and the fact she was grooming Jess sounds very positive  :)

I'm still not sure whether I did the right thing nursing Boris so intensely those last 4 months.  It was very hard.  He was uncomfortable every so often as I learned to adjust Furosemide dose in response to his respiration rates but I just hope he was OK most of the time.

Not rambling at all, but even if it was, you can do that safely with us.      I can understand your DD wanting to accompany you.  This is a big learning curve for her, and she wants to adopt responsibility, knowing how hard that can be.  She's a young lady you can be proud of.  She understands the value of love and loving.

Thanks everyone she's not at the vets till 5pm so dh can come. She pee'd a lot yesterday and actually looks less like a barrel, she seemed comfier when resting and jumped onto the back of the sofa (her napping place).
Poor jess is beside herself, we got jess at 11weeks old when Bella was 2. Bella mothered her, jess was abandoned in a carrier as a tiny kitten and hand raised so Bella is the only mum she's known, both me and dh think jess knows Bella is ill, jess is so quite and looks so sad, she even let Bella clean her last night with no complaints.  So am now trying to comfort jess and dd. Dd has said she wants to come to the vets tonight but wants to sit in the waiting room and then I can explain what he's said. Sorry if this is rambling but got up at 1am to give Bella her tablet and didn't go back to sleep till 4

She's looking a bit brighter,  I'm not as got up at 1am to give her, her tablet but if that's what I have to do so be it. Her breathing doesn't seem as laboured this morning so hopefully she's a bit more comfy. Dd told me she cried all day at school yesterday (I work 12 hour shifts so didn't see her till this morning) and this morning we've discussed that we might need to put her to sleep and why, she's upset but understands
