Personally I think that is the best course of action you CAN take. Listen to the Vet, to your heart and do the best thing for Bella, as I am sure that you will.

It won't be nice, but I am sure that your Husband and Daughter will understand that Bella's interests have to come first.

My heart and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

I do agree with Dawn though, better a touch early than too late when Bella's life becomes a chore to her.

Have had a long chat with dh, and he's agreed she really not herself she's not eaten all her tea, going to have a very honest chat with the vet on Friday about our feelings and what is in bellas best interests and take it from there.

It is such a hard position to be in, but it really is best to do it too soon than too late – my neighbour wanted me to give Buster 24 hours on a drip to see if he could recover, but it would have only bought him months at best, and his spark had gone, I normally let mine go early and don’t see that, but you can tell in their eyes when they are ready. I’m glad for your sake that DD is so astute about it, although that must also be breaking your heart

Dh has said she ate her dreamies this morning with her tablet, I'm desperately hoping these drugs kick in and she perks up a bit. Her Friday appointment is with the vet that knows her best, he's been at every scan and I know we'll get an honest opinion from him. My worst fear is putting her through treatment and dragging things out to benefit us not her, but Im also scared about saying enough too soon. At least with barney it was clear cut, he'd been poisoned and there was nothing to be done. My heart and head are saying very different things

It's a heart-rending situation you're in, and each and every one of us wishes there was a way to lessen the feelings of grief and indecision. I think a Bella Teddy is a wonderful idea, and a lovely tribute to Bella.

I remember very well taking my beloved Trouble to the vet just before Christmas three years ago, the vet said that we could keep him going for a few more months, but he would have to have biweekly bloods done and would have to be given pills every day, he was still a purr monster, but had stopped playing, I looked at him, his eyes had started to film with cataracts, and he just wasn't right. I asked the vet what she thought, she said "I think it's time to let him go." In my heart of hearts I knew that, which was why I asked her. She asked if I wanted him taken into the back room, but I said no, so he went to sleep in my arms. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, but I had to do what was right for him. You'll know in your heart of hearts when it is time for Bella. Awful though it is. I am sure your Darling Daughter will recognise this too.

He is in my back garden with a lovely wild white rose on his grave.

As I said before, we are always here for you both.

I think everyone on here has had to make that agonising decision at some point, we do all understand.

She didn't really eat her breakfast this morning, and even though she was purring she wouldn't jump onto the sofa like she normally would. I know we're very rapidly reaching the point where we have to make that decision, she just looked so sad this morning

She's not good, heart rate 250 and resp rate over 50 at vets, her heart murmur is now grade5-6. She's had an injection of diuretic, and added in fruisamide to her medication, if she doesn't improve or gets worse to get in contact otherwise they'll review her on Friday. Dd said on the way home mummy I don't want to say it but I think bellas reaching the end of her life, then sat and sobbed.

Her breathing isn't right, she's always snored when asleep but noisy when awake relaxed resps upto 38 vets shortly

Just thought I'd drop in and update on Bella, she's still doing well. Just cooking a full chicken for the three of them for chickmas, only sad point was when I wrapped bellas Christmas present for dd and realised it will be the last one she gets from her. I bought a Teddy that dd is desperate for so she'll have something to remember her by.

I fully agree - too much weight could make her heart worse, but a bit extra could be a bonus actually.

Dh seems to think I've binned the dreamies, in reality me and Bella both know where their hidden, I just think it's pointless making her miserable, it's not going to change anything. I've accepted her prognosis but I think dh is struggling to believe it

Dh has decided she's getting a bit podgy and needs to diet, I've just moved where her dreamies stash is, honestly what is the point of making her miserable trying to loose weight, as long as she's not massively overweight I'm happy

The vet was lovely and said he didn't want to upset me but to say at some point we're going to have to make hard decisions about her, I explained me and dh had already discussed that and as long as she's happy and comfortable we are happy. He understands and I think he's happy we will do the best for her. Just of to pick her up and daughter from school

They didn't need to sedate her today, which I'm really pleased about. Her scan hasn't shown any changes which is fantastic, although the vet did say they didn't expect her to be so well, still no fluid on her lungs. Realistically this time next year she won't be here but at least we can hopefully have one last spoilt rotten Christmas with her. They've said to rescan in 6 months unless she becomes ill and then they'd do it sooner. No change to her medication either
