Congratulations on adopting Lazarus, he is  :Luv2:

Can i just ask where you got your peridale granules and RC intense hairball dry food?
My cat has just spent a day at the Vets being cleared out so i am really keen to try something else and i am really concerned at the harm the cisapride and lactulose are doing to her!

:) I tried a careful intro to Kylie last night. I have been exchanging scents from the start and it was at the point where Kylie and Alice had stopped sniffing my hand. Kylie was lying on the dining room floor and I showed Lazarus to her. She was curious but stayed lying down. I held him closer and she swore and growled but nothing major. As I hoped, Lazarus wasn't bothered. He didn't growl or hiss back at her - he really is a laid-back boy  :Luv2: - that is a really good sign - I think one of the reasons Kylie never got on with Willow is because she used to make all the wrong noises and poses.

Thanks everyone. He is really filling out already  :Luv2:

Sharon said it is no surprise as he was barely eating before he had his last clearout. W will have to monitor his deposits carefully. This morning there was only a smallish one and I was getting ready to give him lactulose if nothing more by the morning - luckily he came up with the goods this afternoon  :evillaugh: :Luv2:

He really is a lovely cat  :Luv:

From the photos and from how you've described his behaviour, he KNEW he wasn't going anywhere else right from the start, didn't he!  ;D

Congrats to you all!

Apologies for jumping the gun Mark coz of course it wasn't the obvious outcome at all   :naughty:

It was never on the cards really was it?  :innocent:  :evillaugh:

Thanks everyone. He is so good but not being my best friend tonight after pilling followed by eye drops  :(

I'm sure he will forgive me by the time I go up to say goodnight. He has had company most of the day. I spent the afternoon with him reading and napping and OH came up around 5pm for a few hours.  :)

We have to complete any paperwork, but Caroline emailed me saying that Sharon had told her we want to adopt and that she is pleased  :)

Not as much as we are  :Luv2:

Well we are failed fosterers twice over now - although to be fair, we wanted to keep him from day one  :evillaugh:

Just got back from vets after 2nd jabs (forgot to take the card that Caroline dropped round on Saturday  :-[ )

Vet is happy with colon atm as long as he is pooing every day - he checked and there is no blockage. He said if Laz misses a day, to give him 3ml of lactulose. He said the Megacolon is a bigger concern than the hyper-t.

He wants to see him a bit more stable before even considering surgery. He said the hyper-t isn't very bad and they usually only suggest surgery if the gland is very large.

I also asked about runny eye and he also has conjunctivitis, so has to have eyes dropped twice a day - poor boy  :(

I think he has forgiven me after crying all the way to and from the vets  :Luv2:

Angela (Pudding) came in the vets while I was waiting with a newbie - a pretty tabby called princess. The carriers were next to each other on our laps and neither cat got upset  :) :)

I looks a bit on the small side though?

I wanted to get one for outside for Willow last year but it was around the time she went downhill quickly  :( - I ended up getting a refund.

I just bought a wide shelf and some clamps in B&Q

Lazarus has peridale granules in his wet food with plenty of water added which he tolerates really well. I have also started giving him RC Intense Hairball food which had psyllium added. The vet is trying to avoid harsh laxatives unless necessary. Ideally I would like to just give him the RC dry and his wet food but Megacolon is quite serious so have to be careful. I have cut down a bit on the peridale as I think he might actually be getting too much fibre.

Chris when I first got Bonnie from RSPCA and had to keep taking her back fro regular injections I commented to the vet one time that Bonnie's poo was really hard and she told me to put some Evening Primrose Oil on her food - I was told to just buythe cheap ones from the £1 shop and cut the capsule and drip it on her food.  After 1 a day fro about 5 or 6 days it wasn't hard anymore.  Maybe it could work for Celyn?  Not sure about Lazarus Mark but you could ask your vet on Monday.

Mary

Ooh brilliant idea - I can do that no problem at all as I always have some capusles here  :thanks:
