I think alot of lessons have been learnt here - as I said last week.

Anyone owning pets, especially for the first time makes mistakes or hindsight would have done things differently, whatever has happened Lisa will be feeling gutted about this I am sure now so maybe it it best that she concentrates on making sure her other little one is ok.
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

The breeder was totally at fault,  Lisa you tried all you could to help Portia but it wasnt enough,  Angie tried all she could to help Portia but at the end of the day the poor baby is no longer with us, so as far as I see it the main loser in this situation was Portia and I would suggest that we remember that.

I don't think anyone is blaming you Lisa - its down to the breeder - we have had similar cases in the past with a breeder doing just the same thing - I was due to take two of the cats from a rescue lady on here and they both had to be pts before they got to me

Should have known people on here would look for a scapegoat in all of this. I did everything I could do for poor portia and yet people still feel the need to blame someone. At the end of the day I aint the one giving out poorly kittens. :censored: >:( >:( :( :'(

I think first priority now is to get Rosie to a vet and checked out, possibly not the PDSA, I know they are free but they weren't too useful with portia.

Lisa,  this from one of your earlier posts :

breeder is sending me emails saying i have given out her email address which i never gave it to anyone and that if i had got portia put to sleep like she told me to do there would of not been any of this upset

What I think is trying to be said is that,  if the breeder had told you to put Portia to sleep than surely it wasnt just a tummy problem that was going to go away over night.  Portia needed to be treated a lot quicker and perhaps a lot better (in the case of the PDSA vet) than she was.   To be 4 bus rides away from a vet when you are taking on a poorly cat is really not ideal.

People on here have been following the Portia story for so long now that emotions are bound to run high,  my whole family have been following the story and in fact I called to my Mum to tell her Portia has died and she was in tears this morning so that is what it means to us all on here,  I am sure you are devasted as we all are,  but lets just remember Portia in all this and spend some time thinking how we can prevent this happening to another kitten out there.

So very sorry to hear this

If we could bring you back again,
For one more hour or day,
We’d express all our unspoken love;
We’d have countless things to say.

If we could bring you back again,
We’d say we treasured you,
And that your presence in our lives
Meant more than we ever knew.

If we could bring you back again,
To tell you what we should,
You’d know how much we miss you now,
And if we could, we would.

Now that does not sound like a kitten who can be helped through diet!

I could join in the slagging match lisa....but "me" I am far too good for that...I have said my piece, it was honest and from my heart!

we are all upset today so lets not get too personal.

I agree partially with you Bazmum. If you have an ill kitten you must get it to a vet immediately and not wait.  if you are in a situation where you cannot do this then a kitten is not the best thing to have.

FIP (if thats what it is ) is not treatable, so it may not have made a lot of difference for poor Portia. However, any kitten you bring into your house may be exposed to the same thing via Rosie.

Poor Portia should never have been given away in the first place, and certainly not to someone who was new to kittens and who would struggle to be able to get to a vet promptly. And that is not an accusation Lisa, it is just stating a fact and you were a victim of this as fiasco as well.

Sorry peeps and please excuse me! It takes quite a lot to get my back up, well this IS too much and I cannot contain myself!!!  >:(

I do not know of breeders but would like to know why they gave you a sick kitten lisa with instructions to pts? I really do hope that Rosie is okay, I know she did go through a sick spell and I would hate to think that the little love has been exposed to this!  >:(

Now I am wondering, I have tried to answer my own question but to no avail....Why take a kitten/cat on that you know has health probs and you also knew it would be a struggle for you to give it the attention that was required?

I am so mad I could!!!

Portia baby....you never asked to come into this world, you certainly never asked to go out....for the part in between I am so sorry for you that you were let down...God Bless you little one! xxx

Sorry peeps! If a mod would like to give me a telling off then I can take it! I just had to say my piece!

Ross has just phoned and he says it looks like FIP.

He is going to try and get this confirmed. Once it is, I will inform the breeder as obviously this is contagious and the rest of her cats/kittens may well be infected.

what a sad week this is. Jill told me that Tigar (the oldie that went to the pub) and Ellie (BSH that I started a thread either here or cat chat ) died yesterday. Tigar of a heart attack and Ellie of complications after a stroke. Not a good time to be one of our cats! :(

Lisa if it is FIP you need to get Rosie to the vets immediately and what ever you do,  do not bring another cat into your home please.

It is with sad news that I must report that Portia died during the night.

Ross has just phoned me up with the sad news. He had her at home during the night and was hydrating her but everything was leaking out through her bowel and they could not keep her hydration levels up.

He has asked my permission to do a biopsy of her intestine to see if it shows anything.

RIP little girl.

Can a mod bod (or lisa) please amend the title of the thread.

(I shall still take them a card in and something as they are upset but if anyone needs a refund please pm me)

Keep at it, Angie. I'd love Portia to go to a trained professional that she's bonded with while getting back to good health! :)

Oh, yes - that would be a perfect Purr-fect outcome  :)

She was telling me how she will only eat while being stroked :Luv2:

Oh, I wish I lived in Coventry - then she could have all the strokes she wanted, and whenever  :Luv2:
