Oh Alison! I'm so sorry that you have to wait longer for the results  :( Does your vet think they will be ready tomorrow, or might it be longer?

Burger.  Tenterhooks a little while longer, Alison.  Still, never mind if it's the best result we're all hoping for.

I phoned the vet and it loos like the results will not be in today :-: I will have to be patient, which is difficult :) The biopsy was marked urgent so everything is being done.

Parki , again, is eating small amounts very often. I imagine the meds might have been stimulants as she can't really settle but seems happy with no discomfort.

Thank you Paula

I am glad that she is more comfortable and eating a bit and drinking again, hopefully it is the other kind and can be removed. Thinking of you and Parki, Allison.

Glad that Sylivie is responding well to treatment too.

Good news she has eaten today and drunk a lot.

16 is no age these days for a cat, two of mine are 17 and 21. Silvie who is away at the mo having radioactive treatment for her thyroid is only 11, but the vets there were telling me they had treated cats of 20 and 21 for thyroid disease. Years ago they would have written them off. All fingers and toes crossed for a positive result for Parki tomorrow :)

Alison and Parki

I think it is more difficult to make decisions when an older (but not ancient)cat is involved.Whereas one might want to treat a young cat whatever (my friend's cat was just short of her 1st birthday when the lymphoma was diagnosed. She is 5 now) and an ancient cat not at all, these middle years can pose more of a problem. I call these 'middle years' as our last cats lived to be 19 and 20 respectively.

You are the person who knows Parki best. You understand her general state of health and also know how she reacts to basket, car, vet etc.Whatever decision you make will be made out of love, with Parki's best interests in mind. But here's hoping that you don't need to be making those decisions anyway!

Thank you Rosella

She has eaten a few biscuits the morning and drunk quite a bit of water ;

I think if chemo is offered when the results are in I would be very reluctant to take it up because of her age. I think great advances have been made in chemo for cats, which is wonderful. Alan , the vet , said that they have a cat that it has given an extra three years to. I think this gives great hope to younger cats for the future.

............when she got home but she has actually eaten a few biscuits and some ham, I got from the deli for her :)  .The drugs have worked very well and she is obviously much more comfortable .

Like all of us, she will be  a great deal happier being at home Alison and so glad the vets were able to make her so much more comfortable  :care: :care: :care:

It was quite some years ago now, 10 years and more, that my business partner's young cat Noodles underwent chemo.  He was only around 7 years old and she threw everything at saving him with regular trips to the specialists at Bristol University who said his only hope was chemo and my vet gave the treatment as hers did not have the expertise.  Sadly it was not a successful outcome but I have no doubt that things have moved on in that field.  I do however recall that cats do tolerate chemotherapy better than us.  Heather is right and it's very heartening to hear of Lynn's friend's cat responding so well to the treatment.

I've got everything crossed for tomorrow's results for your beautiful girl

Chemo for cat doesn't give them the symptoms that humans get, apparently they tolerate it really well. Don't lose their fur or feel sick.  Hopefully Parki won't need to have it and the results are good :Luv:.

Thank you both so much, that is very helpful

She was very wobbly on her legs earlier when she got home but she has actually eaten a few biscuits and some ham, I got from the deli for her :)

He legs are much better now and she had a wander in the garden. The drugs have worked very well and she is obviously much more comfortable .

My friend's young cat had chemo for lymphoma. She did very well, the chemo made her a bit less  bouncy than usual but she didn't seem unwell or unhappy in any way. The cat did really well and the vet has said that they consider her to be cured rather than in remission.

I hope she eats something soon

No experience of chemotherapy in cats but it might be worth doing a search on pet forums as I'm sure I've read threads on there about cats having chemo but wouldn't be able to recall specific threads. I suppose it depends a lot on how it's given. If it can be given in tablet form I'd imagine that's a lot easier and less stressful all round. Fingers crossed it won't come to that though

Thank you everyone

Just back from seeing the vet. He gave Parki an anti sickness injection plus an appetite stimulant which is also an anti depressent.

She has lost a bit more weight which is hardly surprising.

It is all a case of waiting for the biopsy results. Our surgery does offer chemotherapy if it is that sort of cancer but do not think I could put her through this. Does anyone else have experience of chemo in cats?

Thank you

She is still refusing to eat and have tried everything, ham, chicken, several pouches too.

I phoned up the vet earlier and was told to bring her in tomorrow.

I don't think she has drunk any water either during the day.

She did come outside with in the garden earlier but was quite weak and kept lying down.
