Asda dont sell Classic, the only places i have seen it is Morrisons, Wilkinsons and Pets at Home, but it is generally on offer in PAH, and less than £10 for 24 tins. I rarely shop in Tesco, but didn't see it last time I was in.

Thinking of you and the gorgeous Pepper Janey, do hope something can be sorted for his mouth probs!

Ive seen the Classis food in PAH but Im sure Asda do it cheaper?  :-: :Luv:

thanks  I usually buy Classic from Tescos or PAH - not sure how they compare with Asda though and he does seem to like it.

His thyroid levels are worse than Tino's were then (his were 180). I would be tempted to give him some Classic Cat food, it stopped Sam's gums being red in a few days and might just help while the meds bring his levels down. Hypertension can cause blindness if untreated. Fingers crossed the meds work a lot now they aren't being crushed, I think Vidalta can work in a matter of days.

When he was handed over he was found to be hyperthyroid, hypertensive and had rapid heart rate and oedema feet - so could have been like this a long time and I wonder whether the hypertension may have contributed to his blindness.   Last week he was taken to the vet for the day to have all these things retested, his bp and heart had improved but T4>200 and he wants it below 50 (so that's about 4 x higher than normal  but vet suspects because tablets the fosterer had crushed them.  I've to take him for it retested in 1 month.  It also says on the vet reports he has gingivitis and needs a dental and tartar +++ which is obvious! poor fella and I don't think that vet was prepared to do it.

He is wonderful - what other health issues does he have? Tino had his dental when his thyroid levels were 3 times higher than they should be and his liver values were 200 higher than the top end of normal, and Sam's liver values were 100 higher with borderline hyper-t at his dental.

He's adorable, and it looks like he's settling just fine  :Luv2:

If a dental is out of the questions, speak to the vet about 2 week antibiotic jabs, thats what Maxy was given as his teeth were bothering him too.

It might also be worth trying Plaque Off in his food, obviously it can't repair the damage hemay have already, but it may stop more building.

What thyroid tabs is he on?  I have about 7 Vidalta tabs if you need them? xxx

Thanks Clare, I'll ask the vet about those.  He is on Vidalta atm and that's very kind of you  his notes do say may change to Felimazole if no improvement in 1 month.  He was re-tested just before he came to us but the tablets had been crushed so vet said that could be why his T4 levels were sky high.  Hopefully now he's getting them whole they will lower the T4.

He is an amazing old boy  :Luv: we decided let him walk about this afternoon supervised and I'm learning so much watching him, Byron has been pretty good apart from the odd growl earlier.. until he accidentally walked into her and she thwacked him.  It is like having a toddler but he retraces his steps wherever he goes and walks so slowly.  He also says hello every time you stroke him but will let you know if he doesn't like something, he's not a maungy cat  :) he has sat all afternoon infront of the patio windows with the fresh air blowing through the small gap, which I don't think he's had for a while.

Aw I love him already!  :Luv2:

Dont know about the teeth/sedation situ as Nikki had Bunty's teeth done a bit ago and was'nt allowed sedation!  :(

Think that was extractions though so you never know!  ;)

yeah, I know that's what I was thinking  :tired: hope something can be done because I've seen him paw his cheek when eating too, I know for Byron's 2 vet sometimes sort of scrapes them a bit then give me abs but Pepper looks to have quite a few teeth and Lauren says he really hates his mouth touching.

He eats like a horse, he's finished his own and Byron's food off but he's hyperthyroid, hopefully the tabs will help but I do know they don't always.

His breath smell really bad though, I think a vet visit is a good idea.  I can see alot of tartar on his teeth and he eats really strange to the side of his mouth so I think they could be bothering a bit, not sure what they'll be able to do though because I would say an anaesthetic is out of the question, probably abs will be the only solution - wonder if vet woud be able to scrape the tartar off under gentle sedation?
