- my costco membership ran out last year but I'm sure I can find someone who's a member and then I can join the club! Luckily the new carpet is chick crumb colour but it still annoys me seeing all the spillages and that's with hooded trays, I dread to think what the mess would be like if they were normal trays!

I just googled it - it really is Su Pollard! I thought Mark was winding you up, I think he's just jealous as his comes without her endorsment

its the light and easy carpet wizard, my friend got it for me from costco it was £30, it wouldn't ever replace a proper hoover but for a quick once over it is great - Mark will have something to say I'm sure!!

Seriously though, what's the name of the one you got Dawn? I want something lightweight to save lugging the Dyson upstairs every two minutes as the litter trays are upstairs in the new house - chick crumb pick-er up-ing is my main criteria!

I can report that the carpet wizard is excellent! i got a couple of kittens worth off my rug which I was quite shocked about because it looked clean! its also good for picking up the chick crumb so both the things I wanted really - well done su pollard I say!

well it looks ok but I haven't charged it up yet I'll probably do it overnight on Friday as I'm out tonight (oh is away in Italy!!), no sign of Su Pollard on the box though so maybe she's gone back to panto!!!

well a development - I was chatting to a friend on the phone and she said she was going to costco so I asked her to see if they had any, anyway she rang back a couple of hours later and she has got one for me but I don't even know what brand, now I'm really scared!!!

Hi Mark,

It depends on the type of battery, Ni-Cads should run flat and lithium iron can be re-charged on the fly so as to speak.

Someone just has to post the 100th posting to a thread on Carpet Sweepers

With the dyson, I always have trouble opening it then it suddenly comes apart and I always get dust & fluff on the floor and my hand

Is it OK to recharge a part-used battery?. I know you couldn't at one time. They say in the book that once a month, you should completely discharge the battery and recharge. Also, I wonder how long they last - I checked and the replacements are £10

Yes Gillian I like the easy to empty dustpan too

You're not the only one Mark, I'm always amazed at how much cat hair it picks up despite the rugs looking clean after hoovering I can guarantee that if I put the sweeper over them the dust pan will be full up by the time I'm finished as it always is every time I use it. I'd give the battery a few charges first as these rechargeable batteries don't usually get to full capacity until they've been charged a few times but a backup battery makes perfect sense in the long run. I was also unhappy when my battery was drained in the middle of a sweeping session as I forgot to charge it.

Most of these places only front a store and it is actually sent from Miller Brothers (I know this as OH dealt with them). I checked their site and it's not on there either. It's on amazon for about £3 more

Looks like they have stopped selling it. I am very impressed. It's funny how much a dyson picks up after using a regular vac but this gets the embedded hairs that that dyson misses. I keep going over the carpets and still filling the container with hairs

I suppose it will take a while and then just keep on top of it.
