Yep, thats right - this is the third post it has been mentioned on, so this topic might already have been covered C, but I can't remember the threads!! Most rescues do either a sponsored cat or sponsored pen scheme.

I am thinking about gifts.  I just saw a post from Desley and, if I have read it right, her brother sponsored a cat for her last year as a gift?
Even if I have got it wrong, that sounds like a great gift for someone on here to be given. 

If family and friends ask me what I would like, I am going to ask them to make a donation to a rescue of my choice instead.
