thank god for this news helen..god i've god tears now never mind how you must be feeling. I love both your boys but Riley just turns me to mush

As i said yesterday its incredibly easy to mis judge heart size from x rays but still i was very worried for both of you

Roll on these blood tests and lets keep everything crossed until we know its safe eh

Have just heard back from the vets

He has done another ultrasound and says that it's "highly unlikely that anything is wrong with his heart". There is no hole, no leaky valves, no narrow parts

He has studied the partial ECG results from last time and said they are fine too, he said that he hasn't done another ECG as today's ultrasound showed the heart as normal.

He said there is a new blood test out which tests for heart problems so has sent it away for analysis, the results should be back next week - he really doesn't think anything is wrong but said that if the blood tests do come back showing something then he would need to be seen by a specialist heart centre but again thinks it highly unlikely. The other blood test for all the other organ functions was done inhouse and came back completely normal aswell.

I asked why the X-ray done yesterday might have showed his heart as enlarged and he said that he has taken all the measurements and that the heart is just within normal size, Riley has a particularly small chest which is why the heart may have looked enlarged in comparison with the chest size.

So.............

My baby boy is going to be OK, he said for me to come and pick him up at 6:30 but I bartered with him and will be getting him at 6

God knows how much it's going to cost, yesterday was £237 (£137 of that was for neuter & chip x2 though) - he is insured but I have to pay out first and claim back from the ins co - who cares anyway, the main thing is that my little prince is going to be OK

everyone

No news as yet... The heart specialist was on the night shift last night so won't be working until later but I still had to take him in for 8am. When I put him in the basket he was OK but I went to feed Lukey (in a different room) and Lukey started yowling for his brekkie as he normally does, that set Riley off yowling - I felt so sorry for him

I uploaded his panting video to photobucket and gave the link to the nurse so that the vet can see it later, she was very impressed

Just caught up with this thread Helen, hope all goes well with Riley today - I have a cat with a MAJOR heart problem, the Vets cannot tell me how long he has - so I know what a worry they can be, but Riley sounds strong and active so hopefully it will be nothing too major.
