OK, call me thick but I still don't get it!  The light cord is just a piece of string with a toggle on the end and the towel rack isn't a heated one it's just metal  :-:  Maybe he's been poking his paw into sockets  :evillaugh:

In any case will find out later, have an appointment at 10 am for him.

Last Saturday he was in the bathroom and was sat on the towel rack playing swingbat with the light cord, I heard a really loud yowl and a thud I rushed to the bathroom and found him in the spare room meowing really loudly.  He was really frightened and hissed, not at me or Lukey but just hissed so I knew he had hurt himself.

You provided the clue yourself!!

Yikes  Are you being serious?  How would he have electrocuted himself in the house though?

Edit: :waiting: 12 minutes til the vets opens!

He was so cute last night, I got his carrier out and left it in the hallway, he hopped in and had a little snooze and then this morning I found one of their little mice in there  :)

Sounds to me like he might have electrocuted himself and the charge has exitted through his foot. That would leave a small burn mark which might express itself in that way .........

let us know how you get on, the vet might be able to see better but its very hard on your own with all that hair there,.

Of course I will, now there's just the dilemna of whether I should take Lukey along too - only joking  ;)  He's big enough to stay at home now.

my first thought was foreign body of some type but if he is only in discomfort when you spread his toes i wonder if theres a wee cut, you know like a paper cut that can hack abit, nothing serious but bloomin uncomfy.

No access to grass, there are no plants in my house since I got them.  He's fine about me touching it - if you ddin't spread his toes out you wouldn't know anything is wrong, there's no swelling or anything.

Does Riley have access to long grass? Or could grass seed have been bought into the house?

Occasionally, a grass seed can pierce the skin and become embedded in the flesh. Because it's so small, there isn't much of a wound so it can go unnoticed and heal over pretty quickly. But underneath, infection begins. The area gets swollen and sometimes there's a discharge. Every now and again, if the grass seeds get touched, it'll hurt and the cat yelps. But because it's such a small area, the pain passes quickly.

Things to look out for would be any sign of redness or the area feeling hot.

It migh just be worthwhile asking your vet it grass seed is a possibility.  ;)

Was looking at Riley's back paw tonight and on one of them he has lost the fur on the very inside and it seems to be weeping a browny substance, not blood but not sure what it is.

He went in the gap behind the bed so I coaxed him out, he was limping on that back paw for no more than 5 minutes and then he jumped on the bed, jumped on the windowsill and was racing around like aloon chasing Lukey.

Later that day I checked his paw, squeezed each toe, stretched each one out, squeezed his foot in general, no reaction at all - by that I mean he didn't flinch or pull away but he could definitely feel it.  He has been absolutely fine in himself - eating, drinking, playing, walking completely normally.  I can only guess that it is linked to him getting his toe caught in the towel rack or something similar but am also thinking it could be a skin condition  :scared:  I'm feeling really bad for not noticing sooner  :(

Here's a pic, doesn't completely show it but by comparison the other paw is snowy white inside.
