Don't worry Mary, she has been having tuna or chicken with her meds to make sure she gets them down  ;) maybe extra on Tuesday.

Glad you're treating her like the Princess she is  ;)

She looks such a sight when she's wandering about with all of her fur gone on one side, limping and the cone which presses her ears down sometimes, and she often walks into things with it! I don't know whether to laugh or cry!!!

I'm so much happier with her progress, she is venturing up and down stairs now  :wow:

Poor girl, but hopefully she'll be all better soon and this will be a distant memory for her. She looks non too pleased with her new neck gear, but it's all for the best. It's great that she's becoming more snuggly and seems to know that you've helped her.

I think Tuesday night might be better if she can have some chicken, fish or prawns as a treat  ;)

Well bad and good news on the Evie front....

Her operation was a lot bigger than the specialist thought when she examined her, but managed to knit the muscle together to repair the hernia. This was last tuesday, and Evie was kept in overnight before being sent home the next day with painkillers.

She wasnt moving around much at all, only to use the litter tray, when she would let out a painfull YEOWW!  :'( she would only eat and drink if you brought her bowls over, but still had a good appetite.

On Sunday night I thought there was some swelling, and on Monday there was definitely some swelling, so I rang the vets who changed her appt from 4pm Tues to 10am Tues. She thought it might just be fluid, but they sedated her and there was some infection so she came home yesterday tea time with antibiotics, an open wound (to allow drainage) and a neck cone as she is licking the wound.

Wouldn't you think they would of given her antibiotics anyway after such an op???

She is a different cat now tho, wandering about, still limping tho, and snuggling up on the bed  :Luv:

Hopefully that is everything over with and she will continue to improve and be back to the norty nutter she was before!!!  :crossed:

The poor thing has two vet appointments next tues, one in the morning to review her op, and one in the afternoon with her regular vet for her 2nd jabs  I wonder if she'll be snuggling that night?!

Congratulations  Evie - I hope to see your input in the out of the cat mouths section.

We have decided to keep her, Evie (as she is now known) is getting on much better with D&D.

When she had a home lined up I could distance myself a bit knowing she was moving on, but even then OH wanted to keep her  :evillaugh:

There is still the occasional growl and hiss on Denzels part, but I am just glad she hasn't been after Denzels place on my lap, that would of been too much!

She does need another op, and is booked in next Tues as she is still in discomfort  :'( hopefully this will make her less 'snappy' when she's better?!  :evillaugh:

No more fostering tho.......

I have let them meet each other a few times. Eve hisses a lot, but Dexter is much better with her as he is so laid back!

There has been some chasing by Eve at which point I have put her back in solitary, which she hates  >:(

However tonight Eve jumped up onto the cat tree near Denzel. I don't know how long to keep them in contact for??? Eve was fine, but Denzel was growling. Denzel didn't do anything for about 10 minutes except growl, so she obviously wasn't happy. They end in to bop each other but there was on contact, at which point I went back upstairs with Eve?

I wouldn't be so bothered about them mixing but Eve constantly cries and claws at the carpet when she is on her own. As me and OH are never in the house together we can't split ourselves between the two camps! It is harder than I thought  :-[

Is this normal or is it just cos she craves attention more than normal? it's not she wants to play or be cuddled, just know that someone is there...

I sprayed pet remedy about a few days ago, I think D&D are a bit more relaxed, but she is her normal self  I think she must have some bengal in her. She is so assertive, runs faster than any cat I have ever seen and one of the first things she did in the living room was jump up on the fire place.  :evillaugh:

I have also been swapping the bedrooms they are allowed into to try and mix their scents up too

Luckily we have fire guards from when ours were kittens cos she was looking like she was going to climb up it as well!

:1st place: on your first foster - exciting times  ;D

Such a shame the new home fell through but she's absolutely gorgeous and if she doesn't make friends with Denzel & Dexter and crown you a failed fosterer I'm sure she'll be snapped up soon

I havent spoken to the lady since she hanged her mind, but when she did visit the first time she kept asking 'and she is perfectly healthy apart from that - are you sure?' She lost her last two cats fairly young (10 & 12) to illness, so I think this is why  :(

She does have a little nip at you sometimes as well  as I said she is confident, loving and will be purring away enjoying a stroke and suddenly have a little (pretty gentle) bite of your hand. It not when you touch one certain place either, I think she is a bit crazy!

I have been swapping her and Denzels bedding around, and brought her downstairs in a carrier, but Denzel doesn't even have sniff, just sits at the top of the cat tree!

I don't understand why people move and leave their cats behind. Poor baby.

Why has the woman who was going to give her a home changed her mind? From all you've said, Eve seems like a very affectionate pusscat who would grace any home. I hope she finds another slave soon.

Meanwhile, you can give her lots of hugs. Shame she doesn't get on well with your cats.  ;)

Good news and bad news on Eve...

She doesn't need another operation at the minute, but she may do in the future.

Unfortunately the lady who was going to rehome he's has had a change of heart  :(

She is crazy! Last night I let her have a wander around the house while Denzel and Dexter were out and she was running around like a lunatic! Then OH let Denzel back in the back door and all hell broke loose. I didn't get a second to judge the situation and Eve went straight for Denzel chasing her upstairs  :-[ I managed to get her and put her back in solitary before any claws came out... poor Denzel!

Hopefully I wont be a failed fosterer as she has a home lined up!

I ended up going in with her again at about 2am this morning as she was scratching and crying at the door  :'(

Mary, Dexter was sitting at her bedroom door for ages, so I let her have a wnder for about 20mins. Dexter is soft as  :censored: so I knew they would be ok, but she had a bit of a hiss at him.... Denzel had a bit of a growl and hiss and just watched her for a bit before I put Eve back. I think Denzel is upset in case he/ she loses his mam!

Eve is SOOOO confident for a tiny little kitty, and very demanding, I think it would upset the balance if we had a cat like her! She is quite hard work!!!

I have been volunteering at a local rescue (westgate ark) and we are not in the best position to foster (with work) but Paul had an influx of cats yesterday, and had one returned so was short of space....

Eve was returned (hopefully she will be going back to the people who wanted to adopt her) as she probably needs another operation  :'(

Her story is she was left behind when her owners moved, and came into Westgate Ark with a suspected hernia. When she went into the vets they found she was pregnant, and a kitten had broken through a tear in her uterus. She lost her kittens and had her uterus removed  :'( She is only 1-2 years!

She is probably going to need a specialised op to repair this further as there was not enough muscle to repair the defect effectively.

I collected her yesterday evening and she is staying in our spare room, and she didn't take long to settle in  :Luv2: OH suggested I sleep in there with her last night, and she spent ALL night going between sleeping on top of the drawers and snuggling up to me and crying for cuddles! She cries whenever you leave the room as well  :'(

She is a gorgeous kitty, heres some pics  :Luv:
