Do me a favour please Helen and don't tell the boys I have been enquiring into their toileting behaviour.

We all need a little street cred and some things are just beyond the pale  :-[

:thanks: again for all the good wishes, the support has been fantastic  Have a lovely holiday Heather and fingers crossed you will come back to good news  :)

Now I know Mr Riley Sir is not my relative BUT can I ask pleez about cumin home condishuns?  :shy:

In par tic yular, am wondering what mom's work rota is and whether it will be ma or grandma on peeing duty and whether that might affect Mr Riley Sir's purrformance in the peeing  dep't?  :-:

Yes I am wondering this too, it was alright for me cos I was on 24/7 duty and didnt have to work.

Sending loads of good vibes for Riley

Fear not ladies, my colleagues at work all know how much the boys mean to me and have been absolutely brilliant.  If he does come home tomorrow I have arranged favours/swaps so that I can be at home with him. He doesn't really know my Mum that well as she has only moved back to the area a year or so ago and I tend to go over to hers rather than her coming here so I don't think he'd feel as relaxed if I wasn't at home.

Well no seizures overnight but he did have a few twitches which isn't ideal, the vet said he isn't too worried about them but they are a pre-cursor to the facial seizures, which lead on to the full blown seizures so would really like them to stop  :shy:

He is tolerating the catheter well and is on a drip still, he was very bright when I went to see him today but it's the bladder issues that are holding him back at the moment. He'll have a blood test in the morning and if his kidney results have improved there's a chance he'll come home as the vet is hoping that the lack of urination is behavioural :wish:

Just catching up on ummm yesterday and sorry to hear all of this.

To me its Napoleon again all over again and of course he was blocked and his bladder had to be opened to get out the crystals.....not struvite.

The constant sedation to do things, bladder op, banks of tests and scans, xrays etc, I am sure upped his stress level and bringing him home didnt help cos another problems would happen and he was back within 24hrs.

Napoleon was in hostiptal almost constantly for a month or more and on a drip with a catheter a lot of the time and my purrrrrsonal feeling which may not help or even be relevant is that if Rileys seizures are stablized and once they have brought his kidney levels down he should come home immediately to see if he urinates etc and also eats, if not and before this happens you need to discuss with the vet what happens next.

His bladder will burst if he wont/cant urinate and his kidney levels will go up and I only just got Napoleon to vets in time! He took me up stairs to his litter tray and showed me he couldnt go.

Its breaking my heart reading about Riley cos its like I am reading Napoleons history and many cats do not respond well to being in hospital and being constantly 'interferred with'.

Siamese and birmans both react badly and maybe the closer the bond between cat and human the worse they respond, I dont know.

Please ask the vet what they would do if Riley was their cat and apart from immediate necessary treatment take time to think about what you are told..................it is just heartbreaking readding the roller coaster journey and the vet and you need to discuss all the options realistically now I think.

I am sorry if any of what I have written is upsetting but having been there its upsetting if you cannot input what you think and dont know the prognosis.

I am sending loads of good vibes for Riley and also to you because I know how draining this is. Lack of sleep and food, not able to concentrate on anything except Riley etc etc.

Please take care of yourself and Lu

Oh bless him, what a roller coaster   After Milly has her Bengal attack she wouldn't go to the toilet until she was absolutely busting (we think the buster/comfy collar made her uncomfortable doing so) which meant that without fail she did it in the car on the way to the vets, because she just couldn't hold it in any longer by that point.  Hopefully once his bladder had been emptied he can come home and show the world how much he wants to re-scent your house by weeing all over it.   Fingers crossed that it is "just" behavioural rather than medical and can be solved.

More bit hugs for you

 :thanks: all

Yep Sam, the vet thinks that stress is playing a part. The cat ward already has Feliway plugged in but thanks for the idea

Oh bless him - you must both be getting so fed up now - is there any way they could think about letting him home soon once his bladder has settled?  Sending more love huggles and healing vibes xxx

Big hugs to you Helen and snuggles for Lu Lu xxx

There was talk of him coming home today before this bladder business  :( The vet said he does want him to come home to see if he will wee at home to try and break the circle as it could be behavioural due to the stress and if not then I would have to take him back to the vet to be catheterised again but first of all they need to reduce the size of his bladder and try and flush the kidneys through. I think they are worried that he might be blocking up  :(

Am hoping with all my heart for better news tomorrow Helen.  Any idea how long he may need to be sedated for this time?

Oh heavens.  My heart goes out to you

Thanks Rosella, even moreso knowing what you are going through yet you still take the time to care about others      He's not being sedated like last time with the seizures, this time it's just to get the catheter in so hopefully he won't be too affected by it.

It just seems neverending and one thing after another  :(
