lol I doubt i'll notice everything else is covered in cats hairs anyway.  Having fun at the mo as my old girl has been to the vets today.  Seems she may have a dose of giardia, apart from that fit as a fiddle, for a pensioner anyway.

Seems that Merlin is the most prone being the youngest, I can only assume that they've used the same litter tray at night when i'm not up to change it.  It fits as Merlin pooed today & it was liquid, though it doesn't seem to bother him.  So have spent ages worming them with panacur & have to do it again for the next 2 days.  Ah well the joys of being a moggie mum

Hiya, finally let him out today, a bit soon for me but he was running up the walls, lol.  So I reckon the anesthetic is well out of his system  :thanks:

You can let him out after 24 hrs. So long as he's lucid - that's the issue. If cats are let out too soon when they are stiill whoosey they can fall off fences or get attacked with no defences. He's just gawjuss  :Luv2:

Merlin is  :Luv2:

Cant remember, has he been out? If not, is it safe and do the other cats go out?

If its safe, then would let him try out in a couple of days,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,before he eats! Let him decide to go out or not

Update on Merlin
« Reply #63 on: February 16, 2013, 19:45:19 PM »
Hello all,

just thought i'd let you know that Merlin was neutered yesterday.  I felt like such a ratbag leaving him at the vets but what has to be done has to be done.  My hubby did suggested breeding from him as he is a handsome boy but I said no & got him done asap before I changed my mind  :shify:

Poor mite was quite wobbly when he came home but soon picked up.  Hubby was there with blanket & 1st aid kit, lol.  Isn't it funny how men are more sympathetic when it comes to neutering   Merlin wasn't interested in the least, he just wanted his mums knee.  As you can see from the pic he made sure he was comfy (note splayed back legs ;D)  Anyway that's his lot for the vets for now, just his yearly shots.  He's certainly done well for himself, from lost Tom Kitten in Dec to Merlin (Mummy's boy) now.

Oh yes, how long would you keep Merlin in for?  As he's screaming to go out now, but I daren't let him.   :thanks:

Hello all,

Merlin is happy as a pig in  :censored: lol.  He's had all his shots, chipped & very shortly to be neutered.  I would have had him done sooner but the vet said to wait till he's a bit bigger, ha what a joke... 6 months old & 8lbs, is that not big enough?

His best mate Marvin (also an adopted stray) adores him but nearly got more than he bargained for last night.  Merlin walked straight up to him, grabbed him by the scruff & tried to climb aboard!!!  Marvin gave him an outraged smack round the ears, he hasn't tried it again, but methinks a vet visit is due quickly, lol.

The pic below is of the 2 best buddies together...

Am very pleased - I think you've taken all reasonable measures to find his owners, and Merlin has settled in with you very well. I would want to think if any of my cats that ever disappeared were able to find a new loving home, that would be the best possible outcome, next to them being returned to me.  The alternative isn't worth contemplating.

Hello all, just to let you know that I rang the local police station to see if there were any reports of lost or stolen kittens, there wasn't.  So that was that.

I have had Merlin chipped & vaccinated today.  They say he's 4 1/2 months old & weighs 2.9kg, he's due back in 3 weeks for his next shot & they'll check to see when he needs neutering.  So Merlin's staying with me, yay  :Luv2:

Will put some more pics on later,

Merlin's clever too, already drinks from the boys water mug.  That came about because my hubby drinks a lot of water & often left it on a little table when we went to bed.

One morning, he came downstairs, drank the water & nearly choked to death on a whisker.  After I wiped the tears away from my eyes & I could breathe again, it was decided to leave a second mug of water out for the kitties.  Taz taught Marvin & George and now Merlin.

Well Merlin's done it again,

my boys have very nearly accepted him, how fast is that??  Marvin plays with him & cleans him, Taz does the nose to nose thing but always takes him longer to stop sulking.  Marvin seems to be chuffed to bits to have a friend, Taz does not like Marvin but tolerates him.  Marvin's one of those cats who follows every other cat to make friends or play & every time he usually gets smacked between the eyes, lol, poor butter.  This time I think he can't believe his luck.

As for the lady that rang me, Sam, her kitten came back last night, yay.

Advert went into the local paper tonight - somebody did ring, a nice lady called Sam, sadly turned out not to be hers.  Not so sad for me  :evillaugh: my heart was hammering at the thought of letting him go, methinks i've been got at.

More surprisingly was my hubby, saying Merlin is very distinctive.  No photo, no good description then she can  :censored: off.  Think Merlin's got round my other half??

Oooh forgot that, vet nurse said both were present & recommended Merlin be done in about a month (so if he's still with me) i'll have him done in Jan/Feb time.  Will also get his chip & shots done at the same time.   Drooling, want to keep him now........... gotta get past my hubby, but Merlin seems to be doing a good job of that on his own, he has taken to my OH like an open tin of tuna

Sounds like Merlin is doing a good job on your oh

Ok,

just come back from vets' - guess what??  NO CHIP  :censored:  Oh well 1 step closer to me keeping him, we will see.  Also the nurse said he definitely has some pedigree in him from the huge ear tufts & he has snowshoe feet,  never heard of that before.

Anyway for as long as I have him I have decided he will be called Merlin.  He appeared out of thin air & makes a huge amount of food disappear!!!

Ah very good point, Rosella.  :thanks:

You know, I just forgot that because I harp on about microchips so much  :-[ that everyone on the site would naturally know to check for that first.  :oh well:

Have you had him checked for a chip yet at the vet?

I live in fear of our young uns (no collars) jumping into a van and ending up heaven knows where and not being checked for a chip.

Vet can also check him out for any illnesses as you wouldn't want your other 5 catching anything if it's preventable.

He's very very handsome  :Luv2: :Luv2:

I can't see him on here either, or on Bumtree (although I dislike that particular site, there are often lost/found posts so it's worth remembering to check there).

http://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/find-lost-pets/find-pets.php?gettopost=1&sort_order=date&typeOfPet=1&lostOrFound=1&searchDate=2012-12-04&searchRadius=30&showResultsAs=List&asukRefNo=&petColour1=-1&petColour2=-1&petColour3=-1&petColour4=-1&petHasACollar=Ignore&petCollarColour=-1&GMapsLat=53.9690089&GMapsLng=-2.6276908&GMapsLocationDesc=Abbeystead%2C+Lancashire%2C+United+Kingdom%2C+LA2+9BW&p=-1&page=10&search=1&lf=&lfp=0&lfonly=

Depending on where in Lancs you are, you may want to call your local Cats Protection, they may have had a report of a missing kitten.
I think you're doing all the right things as Tom is too young to be out on his own and clearly wasn't doing well outside, and yes, the rescues are all terribly full so he would probably have to go onto a waiting list.

:evillaugh: :evillaugh:   he has come up lovely.   Probably just a very scary xperience, getting lost, being found, having a bath and an upset tum.  Hoping either his owner can be found and he can be safely returned, or that he'll get his paws in his very own Christma stocking, and get to stay at yours........  ;)

I've had a look through some of the lost pet sites for the Lancashire area, but can't see any loss reports yet that could be him. There's a close lookalike on NPR but he's older, fully grown and chipped.

If you join NPR and post a description of him aswell as advertising locally, I don't think there's much more you can do. Good luck, whatever happens to wee Tom Kitten now, he's gonna be OK  ;)
