Well he's dry as a bone now & he's come up lovely,  he has beautiful soft fur, must be some Persian or big cats genes in his background somewhere.

I suppose he could be a pedigree but in this area of Lancashire I seriously doubt it (unless some kind person has lifted him) I have placed a found advert in the local paper which will go out tomorrow, ad in local pet shop etc, so fingers crossed.  If the owners don't come forward, then well perhaps an early Christmas pressie for me ahem  :shify:

Guess I just panicked a bit not used to bathing cats.  Had to as he's long furred & his back end was getting ratty.  Not to mention he has a habit of getting poo on his back feet

Anyway he's calmed down & doing a lot of cleaning.  Hubby now brushing him as well, had the hairdryer all set but it was too much for the little guy, he's fine now  :thanks:

Aww poor wee man, he's cold bless him. If he doesn't like the hairdryer, wrap him up in a warm dry towel and cuddle him until he stops shaking.

Is he still damp and sounds like he is cold and scared?

If he is try a hairdryer on the lowest warm setting and loads of strokes.

If not damp then he is just very scared and you need to give him loads of cuddles and strokes and maybe if you have a soft brush just carress very gently, hopefully you will make him feel relaxed and sleepy.

I had to give Tom Kitten a bath & I think i've made a real mistake - obviously used cat shampoo in the right consistency and towel dried him but the poor butter is now shaking all over.  Given him a bit of chicken which he wolfed, apart from leave him alone, what do I do?

Aww what a gorgeous little man :Luv2: :Luv2:
My Mister used to fart alot when he was a kitten specially every time i picked him up to bring him inside, it was like a protest to say dont take me in . He stoped as he got older though :Luv2:

I think 2.5 kilo is  good for his age.
I wonder if his poo smells due to bad diet and improves with proper food. :)

Panacur is top stuff, he should be OK with that.

If the wind stops all well and good but if not he may need a stool sample analysis for bacteria.

I have this sporadically with my two older females, intestinal bacterial infection can be shared by litter tray use and both my ladies use the same tray, so both get the same tummy bugs. My vet, thankfully, takes a pragmatic approach in that a Covenia anti-biotic jab has sorted out the bacterial infections previously so we don't bother putting the old girls through the rigours of blood tests (as the cure would generally be the same anyway) but this is NOT doing it by the book, so you would naturally expect the vet to request stool samples and bloods.

I've also been sneaky in former, leaner days by dosing left over Synulox tabs (from one of my other cats), which worked a treat but obviously that's so far out of order I'll likely get told off by the mods for mentioning it  :sneakin:

Yup,

I  suspect he's going to be huge, his back feet remind me of a snowshoe rabbits'.  He's now been wormed but it's only the liquid kitten stuff I hope it will be enough.   :thanks:

Sounds about right for a largish breed. I think you can sense that he's going to be a strappin lad.  ;D

Sly was 3 kgs at 6 months but he's more compact.  :Luv:

Also what is the average weight of a 3/4 month male kitten?  Weighed him several times this morning & got 2.5kg/5.5 lbs, is this normal??   :thanks:

Hi,

thanks for the tips I will definitely start with those 1st a bath might be too much maybe, as for keeping him I don't think that's on the cards.  I have 5 already & to keep him would probably mean I end up divorced, lol.  Even if I don't find his owners he will go to an excellent home I will make sure of it  :thanks:

:welcome: :welcome:   He looks lovely.  Try those pet cleaning wipes to freshen him up.  Most of the pet stores have them. My cat has often had a wash up with them.

How about a rub down with a damp facecloth to get him started on the cleanliness front? Sounds like he's been living with a smoker, or maybe it's wood smoke and he's been sitting by a roaring fire?
Part of me hopes you don't find his owners, cos I think he'd have a lovely life with you

Yup isn't he beautiful??

He has very large feet, look the same size as my adult cats, but probably all that long fur.  Praps he'll turn out to be a maine coon or Norwegian forest cat??  He looks like a posh cat to me but then all my other cats have been stray moggies, so i'm no judge.

He has a really placid temperament, good job as I think a bath is in order as his fur stinks of ciggies (wish me luck)  :sneaky:  Will sort out wormer 1st thing  :thanks:

What a stunner  :Luv2:

So like Pussy when she turned up cept she turned out to be older.

Sounds like she has been scavaging for food and it really doesnt like her..........some protexin from the vet may help sort her tummy but she may need to go to the vet and always when not much time before chrissy.

Probably worms. Try here

http://www.animeddirect.co.uk/search/cats/wormer/relevance

His gas may indicate a gastro-intestinal bacterial infection. Try the wormer first though.

Gosh he's stunning! Where are you in the UK?

You can feed ordinary kitten food from felix or whiskas up to 12 months. Don't give him cows milk or any dairy products (no cream).

Have you checked out our Lost and Found section? There are some excellent tips to help find his owner.

Hi,

my new friend arrived yesterday, walked through the back door & doesn't seem to know his way home.  Whilst I try & find his owners, what food is best for him?  He is around 3/4 months old, with all his kitten teeth.  He has been eating adult food but even doing the smallest poo, the smell is horrific.  Surely the smell is not just because he's a baby?

Honestly he clears the house, could be used for biological warfare   All help gratefully received, thanks, Sue
