OMG that's fantastic .... i think it's safe to say he has well and truly settled in.  I still can't get over the huge tufts on his ears (are you sure he's not part Lynx lol).

Thank you everyone!

Yes my lovely best friend said to me today - ah see I know your cat mummy magic would work! And it did bless :-)

I text his old mummy tonight with new pics and she said she was very happy to know she had made the right decision :-)

Well well well just had to give one last update! Not only have I now got a boy who follows me everywhere now, sits on my lap and needs to know what I'm up to all the time.... But but but tonight I thought he was biting nina when he walked up to her then I realised he was GROOMING her!!!

I'm stunned - it might have taken over three weeks but actually when I think of him then and now im sure it's a different cat!!!

It's amazing! I can't believe it to be honest.

Slightly concerned him and Nina seem to be running at each others all hours of the day. No hissing and it doesn't seem aggressive but she swipes sometimes and I worry they are challenging each other! Early days I know :-)

I know it's amazing!!

He also isn't as dumb as I thought... Last night I'm lying in bed, they two are running about and next thing he stands on his hind legs against the bedroom door and closes it on Nina then ran under the bed! I was hysterical with laughter at that effort!

He is always out for meal times now which is great. Still under the bed a lot too and can't deal with me walking about but it will come in time. He is more and more settled everyday and getting him was the best idea :-)

He is gradually coming out of his shell and think you are gonna have a major snuggler  ;D ;D

His life at the other place must have been very bad for him and suspect he got walked on and all those running feet were a nightmare.

Oh pleased to hear munchkin really came out of his shell.... Fabulous!

Rio is def not regressed as bad as I initially thought, has has a wee wander tonight and allowed me to stroke his head for first time out of under the bed!! Pheww!

Boyf even got a tummy rub under the bed...  So Rio isn't as scared of new people as initially thought :-)

Yay!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend :-)

I wouldn't be too disheartened, going on how he was when he first arrived I think it's only to be expected that he would hide from a 'stranger' - he doesn't know that your OH is his new 'Dad to be' or 'Uncle'!  :naughty:

He is just so scared of the unknown and was literally shaking and trembling when he could hear a noise coming from the hall until he saw what it was.

Poor little lamb :care:

It's good that he's allowing your BF to stroke him. I think he's making excellent progress and I bet he'll be back to where he was in a day or two  :Luv2:

He's already come a long way and I'm sure he'll get braver as time passes. It's amazing how they can come on. For a long time after he joined us, our Munchkin used to hide under the chair when our weekly Tesco delivery came (and wouldn't come out until everything had been put away and all the nasty, crackly, bags had gone into the cupboard) but these days he runs to the door as soon as the bell rings to see what's going on (and in the hope that the Tesco man will make a fuss of him). He also 'supervises' the unpacking of the shopping (i.e: climbs in the bags, bats things around, lies on the kitchen surfaces in order to block the cupboards, etc). I would never have thought it possible a couple of years ago.

Oh dear! He has been slightly better this morning, he still allows strokes under the bed and allows boyf to strike him.

He actually also climbed out from behind the video player for a second time practically out onto me. He is just so scared of the unknown and was literally shaking and trembling when he could hear a noise coming from the hall until he saw what it was.

Boyf away tomorrow so fingers crossed tomorrow night we have a bit normality return :-)

Thanks again for all your continued advice xxx

Definately a reaction to a new person and could set you back miles, hopefully once the visitor has left he will gradually regain his confidence.

Some cats are permantly like this, my big Misa being one  case.

He will run and hide if anyone comes into the house or the doorbell rings but as soon as they have left and he is sure he is back out of hiding again, he especially hates men because of the abuse he received when young.

Sasa just hides!

Oh dear people we have had a bit of regression from Rio.

My boyf has came from London for the weekend. He is cat daft too but I expected there to be some reaction from Rio but hoped it wouldn't be too severe.

Well he hasnt came out from under the bed. Will sometimes come over for a stroke under the bed but I'm back to having to feed him under the bed!

Worse of all I got up this morning and whilst I'm used to him hiding behind the couch if I'm walking about he has got himself behind the TV unit - he could t climb back up so I had to move furniture to get him out.

I know it's a reaction to a new person being here but I just hope all the good work isn't undone permanently :-(

Is it wrong im laughing because I've twice saw Nina punch Rio in the nose if he gets too close! She isn't overly aggressive but last night she was in the big cardboard box and he went over for a sniff and out of nowhere this paw shot out the box and bobbed him on the nose and he ran for cover.

This morning I gave her a treat whilst he was wolfing down food, she ate it, he came over for a sniff... He got too close and bop in the nose again.

He is certainly wanting to be friends more than her and I can see she isn't comfortable eating whilst he is there which is fair enough, but if I feed them in separate rooms she follows to see what's going on. It could also be the wet food I have just now isn't her fav... I picked up the wrong one by mistake. She is eating biscuits and treats so I'll nip to shops later and get her fav and see if she will eat somewhere lol! I don't particularly fancy feeding them in closed separate rooms forever but if I have to I have to! :-/
