Oh thank you so much everyone! He is gorgeous.

Last night was a great success - they were playing with the same toys although when I put the bird hanger on the door frame Rio just about knocked himself about on the door running at it! I think I have a big dumbo on my hands.

Today and tomorrow are the last days I'll seperate them I think. Rio is desperate to eat with Nina in the kitchen and hang out now... She isn't quite ready. If the weekend passes without incident then I think I've got an integrated household :-)

He is actually less jumpy than he was in his original home..... Amazing! Still not up for a stroke unless under bed but I'll wait! :-)

Gawd Blimey O Riley - isn't he just the most gorgeous Chappie?   :wow: :wow: :Luv2:   And how brave is he getting?  Oh a very big "Well Done" to you and to Nina.  ;D  Who'd have thought the bogeyman under the bed would turn out to be a right handsome chappie  :evillaugh:

Nina looks tiny next to him, and I'd say she's definitely eyeing that tail up as potential pounce material  ;)

Boy-oh-boy-oh-boy - what a winderful sight to greet the eyes in the morning.

Crikey, phwooarrrrrr!  :Luv2: :Luv2:

Our Gillian (Ambercat) is a groomer, she advised I get a Mikki matt breaker (i got mine off e-bay, much cheaper than Amazon) - not the splitter it's a different thing. Basically it's a grooming tool that contains tiny blades protected by the teeth of the tool which cuts through matts safely rather than pulling them. By the look of Rio's coat, your gonna need two, one for each hand (you can turn the blades around to use right or left handed which you will appreciate when you see them).

I don't think he has an issue being brushed... The issue is his previous owner never did it. She said he loved being groomed... She just didn't have the time.

I'll def be brushing him soon but those clumps on his front are like solid dreadlocks :-(

Now could be a good time to introduce the brush.  He may let you just gentle rub him with a brush rather than a hand it may be less threatening to him.  You don't actually have to brush him ... jusr rub it against him so he gets used to the feel of it. ;)

He knows the dreamies rattle very well :-)

And newsflash..... Tonight I got my first purr!!! He head butted my hand.. And I got to tickle his tummy... All with my arm stretched under the bed but it's first proper contact!!! Wow!!

Worryingly he has really bad knots on his belly on his ruff despite being mostly shaved! Think it will take weeks if not months before I get to them with scissors :-(

Oh ladies thank you - he is still very jumpy and afraid of me but him rolling on his back last night was such a break through I cried! Lol!

Nina went under the bed beside him this morning then emerged out the other side and just stared at him then hissed. Think she can't quite make up her mind but that's ok. Plenty time :-)

He was actually chirping last night - first time he has made any noise! He was walking around my room with my lying in the bed... And he was chirping! I'm loving it :-)

Will get proper pics as soon as we have lift off... Lol

If you kind of rattle the Dreamies bag while he's crunching on them he'll quickly associate the noise of the bag with the taste of the treat. I've trained my last three additions to "come" to the sound of a crinkly treat bag.  :)

Great progress, you should be very proud of yourself. Once you are sure they can play nicely together (and Nina is certainly making all the right moves) you can think about leaving the internal doors open while you pop out for a few minutes at a time.  ;)

We have progress.... Again!!! Eating this morning whilst I am there and with head out the bed.... First pic attached!

Also last night he came out when I went to bed and Nina and him chased each other around for a few mins. I paid close attention to make sure it was fun...Nina seemed to be teasing him... Running up to him and then running away, rewind repeat, rewind repeat! I was worried she was scared until she started lapping up his water in his safe room and I figured she was v relaxed to do that with him there! He doesn't walk so close to the floor when he comes out now either..., unless I'm walking lol!

By the weekend I think he will be out too :-)

woooooo hooooo .... so the advert is correct ... Cats really will do anything for dreamies (including venturing out from under the bed! lol)

The big fat "blonde" lump is Oliver.  I adopted him when his previous owners moved to Milan and left him behind  >:(  He is such a complete and utter wuss and posed no threat to Zephyr's status as No 1 boy.

Have you tried bribery yet ....  :innocent:  .... according to the advert "cats will do anything for dreamies treats"  ;)

Wait for it wait for it!

Firstly no sniggering but I actually shed a tear at the breakthrough tonight! I'm on my belly talking to him under the bed and he didn't back away! I put my hand out and he sniffed it THEN starts flipping on his back and flashing his belly and running his scent on the bag next to him! He actually seemed to be showing off and relaxed, flipping on his back! Under a bed yes..... But

So Sam I went and got the dreamies... And I tell you he was half out for them... Full body out at the prospect of the dreamies then he had a change of heart and went back under BUT this is a big deal!

Sam I can't see the new photos on here.... I'm using tap talk! Let me try abd see them on safari :-)

We have a landing with another door, then another door, then another door so thankfully there are three doors before they can get right out so sometimes Nina goes out on the landing for a little sniff as there are huge windows.

As for Rio roaming free. I really don't know. He is terrified of me, not of Nina. She is insure of him but no major issues so far between them! Last night again he roams about the house - she sleeps on bed with me. I do wonder whether he would feel more comfortable getting to know the house with me not in it but then them squabbling when I'm not here would be a nightmare. Neither is aggressive at all though.

He hadn't ventured out tonight - all rooms open - him under bed! He must be very bored. Nina could get to him under the bed... She is a third of the size of him but she hasn't tried as I think his size is intimidating her.

Loving the story of your little girl bobbing your boy in the face.... Brilliant! Hilarious in fact :-)
