i'm sure nobody was upset hun, at the end of the day its a free country and if they want kittens there is nothing to stop them we can only offer advice people don't have to take it - I've just spent an evening myself give mil reasons why she shouldn't get a kitten at 84!!

ah thxs Rosella i thought they were in their 80s or something , i hadnt read the age just saw the word old so just imagined dottery old people with zimmers and all that (nothing like me at moment ho hum :innocent:)

I do think though even making the best provision in the world financially cant quite make up for the pain an elderly cat suffers when it loses its owners especially when they are the sole source of attention.

so i do agree that a pair of kittens would be preferable but it is there own personal choice at the end of the day.

My comments werent meant as a slur to Alison or her judgment at all btw as i know how much work is going into arranging all these rehomes and the pressure it must put up everyone involved, so must get very draining both emotionally and physically without even going into the unpaid time the folk on here put into this
so apologies alison if you were upset over my agest comment :-:

they sound like people who will have thought it through and anyone with property surely has to think of making provision - like you say rosella, 60 is the new 40 apparently!

The man is in his 70's and lady late 60's.

That isn't quite as ancient as it used to be  :innocent:  Any of us could be hit by a proverbial bus tomorrow and should consider what would happen then  ......... however there is no getting away from the fact that 2 kits are easier than one and leaving kits with mum until 12 weeks old gives them a better start.

Best of luck to them whatever they decide and don't be fed up Alison.  Am sure they have picked up a number of good ideas as a result of your input

It would certainly be worth pointing out to them that if they did take one kitten then find it to be, well, a bit too full-on  ... that adding a second young cat later to alleviate the pressure is perfectly do-able.

That gives 'em options when they discover how much hard work a single kitten is (lets be honest, this is why most young cats adopted as kittens end up back in rescue, as their owners just can't cope with the demands of a youngster).

So without pre-judging, Alison, we will be guided by your common sense and knowledge of the couple, and keep our fingers crossed for them.

It might also be a good idea to enlighten them to the existence of The Cinnamon Trust

http://www.cinnamon.org.uk/

for the years ahead.
Well done, you. Don't get frustrated, they may get lucky with a perfect kitten from the Vet and live to be 100.

is it wise them getting a kitten if they are so old though, Id have thought they were better suited to an older cat tbh :-:
no wonder you are fed up of it if they are now asking the vet after all the effort.
Im sure finding a kitten wont be a problem but they would be helping a young cat so much more as kittens are always snapped up first in rescues :innocent:

ps Jack Spratt, my very gruff BIL has also confessed his love of wild at heart, he said its good sunday family viewing :evillaugh:..i go put off when it first started with amanda holden? as she annoys me soooo much :scared:

Old couple away now but OH saw them this week.

I emailed details of cats. Old lady would go for young cat but old man wants a kitten and am sure he will get his way :( Really think they would be better with a young cat. They have their vet looking out for a kitten now :(

Feel a bit fed up about it

You can't change the world by rescuing one cat, but for that one cat you are changing its world.

Gosh this is so exciting. Better than any silly X-fiction or Dimwits on Ice!

Of course the great thing about this, is that some well derserving little furry cause will win, so it doesn't really matter who, because we'll all be delighted.  ;D

Blimey there's some beauties there Gillian and, I agree Alison, Sophie has a bit of a wow factor  :wow:

So difficult to choose from so many beautiful cats  :-:  I see Chico is on there Gillian ..................

Yes, having another attempt to get him the perfect home  :( Of course, I have Shadow here with me too, I guess she's not the right age though as she's 6, but she'd like to ride in a chauffer driven car I'm sure  ;)

That's a shame that Mister wouldn't be quite right for them Pav  I'm sure they'll find the right cat soon enough, sounds like it's going to be a very lucky cat to -  in fact Riley is wondering if they accept applications from currently owned cats  :evillaugh:

Laus little Lexie seems to be in the right age group i think? Lau has a fair few cats to rehome..i spoke to her earlier and she said travel isnt a problem as prepared to drop them off wherever they need to go as she just wants a good loving home for them and obviously would prefer to see where they will be living if possible.
she said after initial interest its all come to a standstill now so it would be brilliant if one of Laus cats did manage to end up driven around by a chaffeur :wow:
