seems a very odd way for Tina to have ingratiated herself with Moira, but I suppose it takes all sorts

you're a star Moira and Tina is just the last  latest iin a long line of very lucky cats

Moira has decided to keep Tina the terror  ;D

She has been nicking the stuffing out of Moiras sandwiches so when she went for lunch at work all that was left was bread

I am so pleased that she has a forever home and lots of boys to keep in order  ;D

Here are some pics of Tina taken this weekend. Her favourite place is on top of the microwave/oven, especially when it is still warm. As you can see she really is a scavenger - that's her helping herself to the remains of my mashed potato.

She was weighed but was only 2.6 kg, less than before, which really surprised me/worried me, perhaps because she had an empty stomach. I queried this with the vet but she said Tina was healthy and just a very small cat. She has certainly never shown any other signs of being poorly and is very bright and active. Over the weekend she was back to her normal feisty self and is eating normally (for her). I'll post some pics soon.

Young Tina was spayed today. She is a bit groggy and feeling a little sorry for herself but is otherwise fine. Many thanks to Sue and National Animal Trust, Leicester, for funding the spay.

She does seem to be exhibiting scavanging behaviour although, as Tigger says, other cats do the same. Cats that I have taken in starving usually eat as if there is no tomorrow, because they are never sure when their next feed will be. She acts as if, 'hey ho. OK, have a nibble, cant be bothered, it'll always be there later'. Of course she may be eating when I'm not there, its difficult to tell with a multicat household. she may be having secret midnight feasts. Apart from the chicken she does seem to prefer biscuits and I always leave them out. Its funny, though,  because old Truman can down a pouch of whiskers in 5 seconds flat :)

I'll take some pics with Tina and her two boyfriends (shameless Hussy)

She may be eating when you're not there, is she losing weight? if not I wouldn't worry too much.  Our Schui was a nibbler but mainly in the middle of the night (we found). Look forward to pics  ;D

I always put Trigger's dry down on the vinyl floor, as he dribbles when he eats, and so it goes soft if put in a bowl

I noticed that what bits she did eat she took out of the bowl and put on the floor before eating

Can be a sign of mouth pain.  Any chance of that?

I doubt it Christine but thanks for the suggestion.  She's not shy at opening her mouth and her teeth and gums look to be in good condition.

She may have come from a home that just left dry down, so wet may not grab her that much as goes against all she knows. As you say some cats have no issues getting over a different diet but some are creatures of habit!
Dexter was very hungry when he first let me feed him but he wouldnt eat wet, after a few months he decided it was worth bothering with, he was living rough so you would think any food would do  :innocent:

I've been having the same problem with Penny my foster although she's done better today.  She would rush excitedly to the bowl when I put food down but then lick a bit and walk away.  If I went back to the bowl she would come and lick a bit more but feeding time was taking ages that away and she wasn't really getting much.  However, when I let her into the kitchen she picked up any little bits of stuff that were on the floor (of which there were many  :-[) and then sat licking the tiles for ages and kept coming back for another lick  :-:.  I noticed that what bits she did eat she took out of the bowl and put on the floor before eating so today I've given her a plate instead of a bowl and she's eaten more but it may just be thats she's settling down now (she's only been here 3 days).

it could be a learned behaviour - Tiffany has been fed regularly for 6 years now, but will still eat food I have thrown out into the garden from the bowl she has ignored for hours

How strange she doesnt really eat...wonder if she wasnt fed well where ever she came from or the hard time outside has just shrunk her little tummy . She is going for scraps so is scavanging like she would outside if a stray  or not fed.

Maybe the vet will have some idea why.

Pleased she is getting on with the other cats and need some pictures of them all together  ;D

Tina is doing very well although continues to show no real interest in food. However, she does eat when she feels like it as I catch her nibbling biscuits on occasion or the carcass of the turkey and even the washed out dregs of biscuits and cat food that have got caught in the sink drain, even though I have just put out fresh food for her, Yuch! :) The supper of chicken breast is the only thing she finishes, mostly she eats a tablespoon of catfood or a few sips of cat milk then looses interest. She is very active and affectionate, though, and is very comfortable with the other cats - too comfortable with Sammy and Maurice who she flirts with outrageously and who take it in turns to sleep with her on top of the china cabinet (Its OK, they are definitely neutered :) ). She tends to dart around the place rather than slink like the other cats and always seems very inquisitive and bright eyed. Rosie kitten goes in to be speyed tomorrow so I will take Tina in to be weighed again. If the vet thinks it is OK I'll book her in to be speyed and chipped.

Great news! Got results back today and Tina is negative for both FIV and FeL.
Just got to get her fattened up now and then the op.
