 yeah i bet it is

Once a number is drawn does it get taken out of the weekly / monthly hat so that all peeps would get to win at some point?

They don't do that at the club - but I think it's a good idea (although I think everyone should go back in for the biggy at Xmas? Unless it's just me left :naughty:).

Tan if you want any help with the setting up or admin just ask  :)

yes very good idea.

I would agree it would have to be on same standing order into the Purrs bank account and we can have cat names instead of numbers as long as noone else has the same cat name.  ;D

If we can build up to the same amount of members (250) with 50p a week (total £26 a year for each member) we can give £75 a week or £300 a month to our rescues  :wow: ;D

The Purrs draw!!  ;D or whats a better name for it?

I will pop a post in general to see how many would like to do this to start off with  ;D

Kelly how are the number picked each week month for the prizes?

Thanks hun

The cricket club literally do a draw - all the numbers are in a big bag behind the bar, and then some random person gets to rummage around and pull out a number. They take the large draws quite seriously though, the bag is flanked by members of the committee!

sounds an excellent idea - need perhaps to check there are no legal complications - someone on here must have a solicitor in the family

Count me in - are you volunteering to administer it Kelly?

Not sure about that!!  :scared: :evillaugh:

I would be more than happy to help as much as I can, obviously the money side of things and the actual draws should be looked after by Purrs I think (sorry Tan!). If it's something that Purrs want to look into further, I'm happy to manage the list of numbers, and help where I can with the other admin.

Sounds like a good idea to me and I'd love to have a number or two too.  Would take someone really organised to keep ontop of it though?

Fundraising suggestion - Purrs 200 Club
« Reply #1 on: July 06, 2009, 09:36:54 AM »
I don't know if anyone has heard of a 200 club? Basically our local Cricket Club run one, and the aim is to get 200 "members" who each pay 50p per week, you are given a number, all the numbers are put into a bag and a draw takes place every week. So it's a bit like a lottery but with better odds!  :evillaugh:

They now have 250 members, raising £125 per week. Approx half of this is given back as prizes - there are 2 x £10 weekly prizes, monthly £50 prizes and then the big draws before christmas where they give a total of £1000 in prizes. It's been a brilliant fundraising idea for the club - over £3500 per year in profit for very little admin (you are only allowed to pay by standing order to minimise arrears etc.).

Could this be something worth considering on Purrs? Obviously it takes a while to get enough members to make this sort of money, but at first the prizes would just have to be representative of the amount of money being raised. Also each member can have more than one number - I would be more than happy to have two numbers.

I'd be happy to help if needed.  :)
