Our Schui did very well on long acting steroid injections he had them for the first 2 years we had him and didn't have many they lasted a good 6 months in his system initially and made his life much better.   I suppose your vet has her reasons why she is trying this route though Stuart,

I did mention the injection Liz, but vet said we'll see how he gets on with double dose as they helped Him first time round
this is a different vet than I usually get ( She's only in her 20's I'd say )
Much prefer the older one for some reason

Stuart might be worth getting the vet to give a long lasting steroid injection rather than trying to tablet him

We used to get them for Gracie with her tumour and for Gem to - injections just seem less hassle thatn tablets

Lets hope he improves and we have all paws crossed here

Misty had a thorough check and everything is fine Temp,Heart etc.etc

vet watched Him walking (very unsteady in His hind quarters) she ruled out arthritis because He's not moving like an arthritic cat
and guesses that the Lymphosarcoma may be progressing into His spine  :'(

I have been told to double the dose of steroids for the next week (He hates them) and see how He goes from there
if there is an improvement, to gradually lower the dose again

He was Sick in His carrier on the way home  :( but as soon as i let him out He made a B-line for food and ate about half :Luv:

I forgot to mention the Potassium
will see how He gets on over the next few days  :(

Hope Misty is ok  Low potassium can cause that back leg weakness, I think there is something they can have for that.

On the way home from doing my Medical Yesterday, I went in by My vet's, and explained what's happening
They want to see Misty, so I'll be taking him through today (don't really want to take Him cause He gets in a right state
in the car sometimes ) But it has to be done  :(

He still looks really happy and contented (doesn't seem to be phased one little bit) Still cleaning Himself and drinking plenty,
but His food intake is down a bit (only had 1 tin of Sheba yesterday) and some raw chicken breast

My main worry is His hind quarters (He seem's really weak) He is very slow when walking and very wobbly at times
will not jump down from anywhere, not even wee distances, Yesterday I observed him flop down/fall over twice   :'(
He still goes to his litter tray no problem

I look back at my post's and this all seem's to have started on the 21st march and he's deteriorated from then onwards
I kept waiting for Him to improve

there are various step's placed about the house to aid His ascent and decent (when he feel's like using them....sigh)

Right now He is was curled up in front of His fire, I've just lifted Him onto the bed, and He's now
ermmmm....playing with his plush orangutan  :shy:

appointment at the vet's for 2pm, I'll update when I get home

Lets hope its just the change in the weather all this sun is a complete change to the freezing temps from last week.

Now you need to build lots of steps and ramps so he can get access to all his fave places - you need a project don't you.

We have the extra steps around the place for Maverick our 3 legged hooligan and have found that Sweetie now pulls her self up on the throws on 2 of the couches - now they are well anchored and taped under the cushions so she still thinks she is doing it all by herself

Hope the vet can help out with what ever the issue all paws crossed here at the Clan Homestead for you and Misty

Fingers crossed the vet doesn't think it is anything too serious - it could be a potassium issue, that is common with CRF and can cause weak back legs, I think it is easily remedied though.

Misty has really got worse these past four Day's :( I keep waiting for Him to return
to the way he was.. photos posted 13th march

He is still eating n drinking really well and looks happy in himself
but the main thing Ive noticed has been He's not jumping as well now and is really hesitant when attempting to do so
I don't know if this is arthritis related or something Else :scared: (He seem's weak)
He was clambering up to get onto bed's and settee (I lift Him up when I'm there)
But it has just been since yesterday I have observed Him doing the same when coming down (won't Jump :scared:)
will phone the vet tomorrow and see what she think's

He's back eating like a horse  :Luv:

only negative thing's I have noticed is He is weeing more
and have noticed the last couple of days, He is not so confident when it comes to jumping onto the Bed or settee
must be feeling a little weak in His hind quarters  :scared: will keep an eye on that

well went back to Tesco's and bought umpteen different variaties, quite a few were the good old "put on a plate, then put straight in the bin...sigh"

But we seem to have made a breakthrough, and He seem's to be eating reasonable amount's of Sheba Tender Terrine brands , at least two tins a day :)

sitting on the bed when your trying to remove the sheets and catching them ( you all know the procedure  :evillaugh: )

Misty has been slowing down on the food intake over the last couple of days, just hope He's going through a fussy stage  :scared:
Going down to Tesco's today to see if there is something else I can tempt him with

Oh yes, I know that procedure well LOL! Joe is my star 'mothers little helper' in the bedmaking department  :evillaugh:

Hope Misty is just being fussy - I'm sure you'll find something to tempt him  :Luv2: Gorgeous pics of him further down this thread by the way :Luv2:
