:yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy: My boy I am so proud of him in total we have now had poops which would measure over 12 inches if all laid end to end, every poop is purrfectly formed lumps; he must feel so much better and he did it all by himself. Diablo and Marguerita are eating well  and not really missing Pedro.

Well done little Pedro!!

The most purrfect beautiful 4 inch poop passed unaided early this morning  :happy dance: :happy dance: :happy dance:

I am so relieved.

 :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

On the question of goats and sheep in the garden, given what you have said Teresa, that could have been the source of the parasite, couldn't it?

Yay! Glad he seems to be pooping better! My sister lived on an estate near a big hill and some mornings she would wake up and there would be sheep in her front garden!!!  ;)

glad the poop issue is getting sorted, I'm a bit disturbed about the goat and sheep thing, surely you need a licence to slaughter animals or maybe they didn't care that you did?

Poor Pedro is still straining to go despite having lactulose and a microlax, if he doesnt produce by morning he will have to go in for a big enema. I am praying for poop, its awful seeing it there and him without the strength to give an almighty push, have even tried stimulation in vain, poor lad needs a larger hole.

Forgot to mention medication used was Norodine injection.

Christine
I know there used to be a man round the corner from them that used to slaughter sheep in the garden of his council house, I doubt a goat would last there 2 minutes.

there are probably quite a few of us who trap or take in cats from various rural and farm areas Teresa, so never say never! ;)

Most of the cats I get in are from rural areas or farms so it's handy to know regardless.  Thanks T.

Choosing my words with extreme care and I hope sensitivity, there are not people on that housing estate who might be keeping goats in their gardens, are there?  It is a relatively common practice amongst some ethnic groups, I believe.

Poor Pedro has had yet another microlax this morning after straining for a couple of hours,he is bright in himself so nothing to worry about.

Naming the parasite is not going to help any other rescues as it is only identified by faecal samples being sent to the lab; however for the curious  it is;

Coccidial Oocysts Isospora species specific to calves and sheep; it is not to be confused with Coccidia felis. The oocysts are picked up from contaminated farm ground which beggars belief because these kittens came from the middle of one of the worst housing estates in the North West.

Quick update, Rebecca is thrilled with the progress made and weight gain over last couple of days and feels they no longer need medication, so vet appt. one weeks time unless I am worried beforehand.

Blimey, he doesn't look bigger than three inches himself! :evillaugh:

The record for the biggest Paws Inn poop was set by Wee Andy 2 years ago, he was the size of a large hamster and passed an 8 inch long one witnessed by a very disgusted Claire

That's hysterical! I can just imagine the expression when witnessing such a 'miracle of nature!'

Have given Christine the name of the parasite.

I'd be interested to hear the name of the parasite as I'm sure anyone in rescue would, it may be handy for future reference  :shy:

Will happily post the information, however I think it is very important that I get it right so will double check  with Rebecca tomorrow by which time I will also be able to post  the name of drugs she is using to treat it.

T they are looking lovely and Im sure that Pedro just wanted you to be able to go to the hairdresser without worrying about him having a poop  so he did it before you went

Keeping everything crossed that these little ones make a full recovery - bloody nasty parasites.

Take care xxx

Pedro was given his enema at 11.15 this morning, no results produced. I had a hairdressers appointment booked for 1.45 my first in 4 years, just as I was leaving to go Pedro let everything out, I picked him up to begin the clean up and felt something very warm on my hand and this was the blockbuster of all time and very wet  Pedro feels much better for that and I apologised to hairdresser .

Poor little mite   I hope the elimination of the parasite quickly helps with the other sort of elimination for Pedro.

So did you get to the hairdresser at all  :shify:?

Christine, on Thursday night Pedro keeled over in bed and emptied everything out, for a split second I thought his end had come.

Rebecca thinks Minimopsical should be ok, and will decide whether treatment is needed for her on Monday, thankfully with all litters isolated from each other a huge worry has been overted.
