Thanks everyone, I am amazed at the support you have given me.  I feel teary too Dawn xxxxxx

I didnt go into breeding bengals lightly, adored the breed for many years and got my lovely bengal pet boys Lubo, Lenny and Loki before I took the next step.  Ive been very lucky to have a fab mentor who has inspired, supported, coached and guided me every step of the way.

Tpepaul, little Josie is just wonderful.  I can certainly see many bengal features in her but you are quite right not to swap her, she is way too special xxxxx

hi there

Velvet is one stunning cat!   I'm a big fan of bengals myself - not only are they really beautifully marked, but their faces have so much...'intelligence'. Don;t know if that's the right word, but you know what I mean...

Josie is half bengal (the other hald is chinchilla!) and retains many of the bengal characteristics (very vocal, beautiful markings) without being purebred. Don't think we could afford a purebred...not that I'd give Josie up anyway! Couple of pics attached. But Velvet...if you ever need a new home (yeah, AS IF!!!!)...

Hi Linda, only just caught up with this thread and can only echo what eveyone else has said on here really. I had no idea you were a breeder but makes no difference to me anyway. You are a lovely person, always willing to help with advice and practical help, your cats are fabulous and as anyone can see superbly looked after and we all know they are loved to bits and I also know you support rescue work too. Like most of us on here I just love all cats and would love to have a pedigree one day when I can afford it (don't think I could cope with a Benglie though ).

Purrs wouldn't be the same without you and of course we need more piccies  :Luv: Just ignore anyone who is childish enough to make nasty comments, if only there were more people around like you, the cat world would be a much better place  :Luv: Of course now I know you have a website I'm going to be on the computer even more - that means even less housework getting done

I don't know why but I felt quite teary looking at the pics  :Luv:  :Luv:  :Luv:  :Luv:  :Luv:  :Luv:

I reckon that'll be due to the state you see furbabes in every day  :'( . These are the exact opposite and a credit to the breeding world.

The commitment of having a bengal is a significant one and no one should take it lightly.  Yes they do look gorgeous but they are also the equivalent of having a young very demanding child around  :evillaugh:

OH YESSSS Nail head Linda  :Luv:.

But would we have them any other way. Nope -they wouldnt be Benagal's if they were goody four paws would they?.

Hey Linda,

soz I've not been in touch with you for ages, I'm always meaning to as i want to catch up on some things but I've just quickly scanned your thread on here I am shocked to hear there's been any bad mouthing of you and I am appauled to be honest.

Having known you for what must be getting on for 2 years now i guess, even though i've not met up with you in person yet I have chatted with you so many times at great length, seen probably over a hundred+ photos of your home with furry friends and also enjoyed chatd with others who have had the pleasure of meeting you and your tribe in the flesh.

All I can say from all of that is that you are the type of cat owner/carer we should perhaps aspire to be like whether we have 1 or multiple cats in our houses

PS Linda..remember jealousy is an awful thing and must be pitied ;)

Thank you Lynn xxxxxxx

Bengal genetics are not easy Gill LOL (like any genetics really!).

Velvet is a silver marble  and he is the daddy to Novas kittens.  Nova is brown spotted but from silver sire.  They produced 4 brown spotted boys and one wee silver spotted female.  Spots and brown are dominant so no surprises there.

If you mate marble to marble you will always produce marble.  If you put snow to snow you will always produce snow.  If you want silver then one of the parents must be silver.  So there are some things you can do to influence the colours and patterns you breed but it really depends what is in their pedigrees further back the lines so they need to be studied and researched carefully.

I do know that velvet carries for brown and snow and can produce silver being silver himself......everyday is a learning experience  ;)  As I love marbles i recently mated him with one of my marble girls and we got a full litter of marble babies ..... one brown marble, two silver marbles and one little snow marble baby  :Luv:

This is one of the wee silver marble girls.

Velvet is stunning  ;D

Now what I want to know is what sorta colour is Velvet called?

And if he is mated say with Nova who looks completely differnet what sorta bengals woulf come out of the union or is it just guess work?

I know you have marbled and spotted and some are Nova coloured and some are Velvet coloured but is there a gentic blueprint for reproduction of the various types and colours?

His markings are beautiful Linda.  When I saw my first Bengal abiut 5 years ago, he was going for a walk in a harness in Salcombe. First time I'd ever seen a cat in a harness and he obviously loved it too.

Right, so now I want a Bengal. Although - are they usually indoor cats (if your garden isn't cat-proof)? As if they went out surely there would be a big chance they would get stolen?

None of mine are allowed out although I do have a few enclosures outdoors that they go outside to play in and they love it.  Velvet doesnt live outdoors either but in my newly converted stud pad (was my garage) - cant bear the thought of him living outdoors alone and my other boys all keep him company on rota (im lucky that they all get along) - he does of course get out to play during the day in one of the enclosures.  We have also harness trained him so he gets out for walks to the park etc which he adores.

My kittens are all reared indoors in the bengly nursery.  I dont let my kittens go to homes where they are allowed out to roam, as apart from usual dangers yes they could be stolen.

The commitment of having a bengal is a significant one and no one should take it lightly.  Yes they do look gorgeous but they are also the equivalent of having a young very demanding child around  :evillaugh:.  You have to love the breed (as clearly I do  :Luv:)

Anyone else wonder if there's a purrs discount ;) Not that I can afford one anyway but still.

You can just tell by their little faces how happy they are. Though my husband would just call them mutants (his name for baby kittens).
