That's smashing news Lana.  ;D  Cats always bag the best bed in the house - always!

That is so true Sue!  Sometimes I wish I'd been a cat in my own home  ;D - they just seem to know where the best spots are in the house.

We are just getting some hot weather for a change and its strange to here you say its getting colder and moving into winter.

One of my cats sleeps on my pillow too and if he doesnt get the place he wants will lie on my heqd and push with his foot till I move. When I look I find he has manovred his way onto all of the pillow  ;D
[/quote]

Yeah, it is quite strange to think you are going into summer and us to winter.  You should see Samui... he's a sneaky one!  When I got to bed he's there and I can move him off the pillow he just comes back every time!  Aah, my sweetheart  :Luv2:

Good news..  It is the stitches that is causing the discharge to stick to the graft.  No need to worry about it.  The stitches is only coming out when I go back within 4 - 6 months.
Phew!!!  I am so relieved!  Samui is so upset with me for taking him to the vet...  but I assured him it was for his own good.  :)

Sues right

I have to suffer a totally out of tune cats chorus for 50 miles when we go to the vet  :shify:

I know the feeling... I always have to drive alone so I've got a cat box but Samui hates it!  He freaks me out totally when I have to drive with him.  I promised myself when/if I get another "child" I am going to make sure he/she gets use to a cat box from baby time!

Hi Lana.  Hopefully, the "sleep" in the eye will just be a temporary measure, but you're right to get it checked out.

I know all about cats who don't like being in a car.  So does Gill  :evillaugh:  On the other hand there are at least two cats on Purrs who adore being in the car.

Sending gentle chin rubs for Samui and the lovely Sullivan too.  Let us know how you get on, Lana.

Hi again , nice to see you.

I would definately get the eye checked out cos it would be sad if it got hurt and didnt get any treatment it needed.

Hope you dont have to move but if you do, hope it goes well.

We are just getting some hot weather for a change and its strange to here you say its getting colder and moving into winter.

 :morning:
Hello again everyone...  I am glad to be back on the forum, hopefully things will be better from now on.  We got a generator for work so when the power is off I can still work  :)

Samui is doing very well.  I am a bit worried about the "sleep" in his eye.  It seems as though there is something on his eye that keeps the "sleep" there.  I tried to wipe it out but can't get it loose and don't want to mess with the graft.  I've left a message for Doctor Bauer so I'll let you know what he says.  I think it may be a stitch that is still there but on the other hand I don't know if that is possible.  I don't know how to explain the "sleep".  It is like a discharge but gooey...  Hope this makes sense.  Today my English is up to no good again  :evillaugh:
It doesn't seem to bother Samui but I want to get it checked out ASAP.  Hopefully I can take him to my local vet because it's a long drive to Cape Town from here and he really doesn't like a catbox or being in a car.  He's put on some weight again so I'm glad about that.
Sullivan is also doing very well.

The article in AnimalTalk is coming out in July/August issue so I'll definitely send you a copy by post - I just need a postal address.

We'll that's me for now with the update.
Hope all of you are really doing well.
Lana

Bliss - sleeping late and going to bed earlier!   :evillaugh:  So glad you and the boys are doing so well Lana.  If you have to move then I hope everything goes smoothly, and that you move somewhere you like.  So - now you have the great mouse hunt?!   Paddy has his favourite too - at the moment, it's a cross between his lady love, Ruth's fabulous lady Lexy's banduj (long story, but he "won" her bandage in an auction on Purrs!  :evillaugh:) and a little wind up turkey.  He tucks them into his bed, and sleeps with a paw over them sometimes!

Anyroad, big hugs to you, Samui and Sullivan.

Hello...  It's been a long time.  :)
We had 3 public holidays here last week and I had a few days off, so only back online now.  Just wanted to let you all know Samui is doing really well.  His eye is looking much better and he is only on one of the medications still so we're getting there!  There is a possibility that we have to move house, so not looking forward to that and I know the kids are not going to like it.  Nothing confirmed yet, but it almost looks as if we'll have to move.

I spent most of the time with them when I had my days off.  Samui doesn't really play with toys, but he's got this one fake mouse that he plays with.  The poor thing is in a million peaces and for the life of me I can't find him another one anywhere!  So I am on a mouse hunt at the moment  :evillaugh:

Winter is almost upon us so I am sharing the bed with both Samui and Sullivan at the moment.  I also noticed that they are sleeping late and going to be earlier now that it is colder.  So funny to see the two of them all puffed up.

Hope all of you are well.
Lots of love... Samui, Sullivan and me

Yes, we don't have enough electricity in the country at the moment, so we have loadshedding everywhere...  it's a bit of a pain!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!  I am off...

I agree its such a wonderful story both cat and human  ;D

Purrs and its peeps warms the cockles of my heart, I know we have desperately sad stuff too but this one is a very happy story.

I didnt know you had power cuts in SA, that must be so frustrating.

I have a cat who takes all my pillow too and last night got hardly any sleep, in the early hours he gets off the pillow and cuddles up tp my body until he is joined by his brother  ;D

Hello all

Thanks for all your lovely messages!  Yes, I am so happy that he is doing well.  You should see him now, we are approaching Winter here and I can definitely see that because Samui takes over my pillow completely at night.  I try giving him another pillow but no he wants to be next to me on mine, and who can say no to that  :)...  Sullivan sleeps on my legs so I can hardly move.  They are really like two peas in a pod!

Doctor Bauer said the recovery period is anything from 4 to 6 months, so it is still a while to go.  I am not sure how much the eye will improve from here, but I can definitely see the change because I still give him the drops every day.  The graft is becoming part of the eye if I can put it like that.  I am just really thankful that he can see and every day I see him playing I want to cry (happy tears though) because I realise what could have happend.  As awful as this experience was it has also been amazing in some ways - meeting you all, your help, support, this has given me faith in people again.   :thanks:

Phew, with the power cuts we're having it is hard to get everything done at work during the day.... that is why I can't get on every day, although I want to.

I am looking for some pics to load.

Speak soon  :)

Hello Everyone...

At last I have internet access again...

Just wanted to let you know that Samui is still doing very well.  The journalist came on Saturday and took some pics for the article, so everything is almost done.  I managed to take some pics of his eye with a friends camera so I'm just waiting for her to email them to me.  As soon as I have them I'll post it so you can see how good it looks.

Hope all of you are well!
