Hi,Ajay, i didnt know Thomas, bacause  iam new herebut when i read about him and how sad you are i just want to say i know how hard it is i went through the simallar thing last december,my beautifull DD got very sick and in order not to put her through the stress i had the vet to come in twice a week for three weeks and visit her at home to give her the medication, she was a rescue cat and hated to be handeled by strangers,so i knew the time will come soon that i had to make the decision for her not to suffer and i asked that they sedate her before PTS, after the last visit by the vet he said she will have few more weeks and that was christmas eve, from that day i had this feeling of being so scared everyday thinking she has only few weeks and there is nothing i can do to help her get better, three days after the visit she got really sick not to beable to keep her food in and i knew its time :( :(. Her vet was away and i had to take her in to see replacement vet which didnt know her and the whole thing was a nightmare, he didnt give her enough sedative and she was really weak but she put a fight in and i had to hold her and as you said the look on her little face, i never forgetit as long as i live, sorry cant write more, may Thomas and DD and all the little guys RIP.

I am so very sorry about little Thomas. I hope that you are all right. It is the hardest thing in the world, but as others have said, the alternative is so awful - to let a loved little one suffer terribly. hugs

I am so sorry to read this Jayne, I Wondered how things were with you all. I am so sorry you have had such a traumatic experience, but he would have been pleased to have such a wonderful owner, who gave him such good care, and also was strong enough to let him go to a better place, where he can now be pain free, however much it hurts you. You know where I am if you need to talk. RIP little Thomas.

Ajay, you've caused yourself pain to save Thomas's. You can't love an animal more than that and I'm sure he knew how much you all loved him  :care:

I'll ask Mavey to keep Thomas company on the bridge  :candle:

RIP Thomas, safe and sound at the Bridge - Tiggy will take care of you until your Mum is ready to collect you... I know that you probably cannot see it right now as the pain of having to choose is too great but you really did give Thomas the greatest Gift  :grouphug:

The Greatest Gift

I always knew this time would come,
From the very instant our eyes first met.
How I loved you then! How I love you now!
I made a promise then, and I will keep that promise now...
You will not suffer from a pain that will not heal;
You will not know the loss of a life remembered, now gone.

It is for me alone to make this decision,
The price for the bright joy and pure laughter
You brought me during the time we shared.
I am the only one who can decide when it is time.
When my hope dies, and my fear rides high,
Just when I need you most, I must let you go.

It is for you alone to tell me when you are ready
For without your guidance, I will not know
When to lay my grief, my guilt, my anger
My sorrow and my selfish heart aside
And give you this last gift, this greatest gift.
Your eyes will speak to mine, and I will know.

The pain of this moment is excruciating.
Tears stream down my face in a river of sorrow.
And my heart drowns in a pool of grief.
For you have spoken and I have listened,
And unlike other decisions I have made
This one brings no relief...no comfort...no peace.

For if there´s one thing you´ve taught me,
If there´s only one thing I´ve learned...
Unconditional love has a condition after all,
I must be willing to let you go, when you speak to me
I must be willing to help you go, if you cannot go alone.
And I must accept my pain so you can be free of yours.

Go easily now, go quickly now,
Do not linger here, it is time for you to leave.
Go find your strength, go find your youth.
Go find the ones who've gone before you.
You are free to leave me now, free to let your spirit soar
Rest easy now, your pain will soon be gone.

I pray I will find comfort in my memories...
In the dark and lonely days ahead.
I cannot say I will not miss you, I cannot say I will not cry.
For only my tears can heal my broken heart.
But, I promise you this; as long as I live,
You will live, alive in my mind, forever in my heart.

So I give you this last gift, all I have left to give,
And this will be my greatest gift...sending you away.
It is the measure of my unconditional love...
For only the greatest love can say,
"Good-bye, go find the bridge, we'll meet again,
Loving you has been the greatest gift of all."
Forever and Always... Until Rainbow bridge....

I am so sorry that Thomas has gone to the Bridge.
What you got to remember is you have shown him the greatest act of love by stopping his pain.....but starting yours.

Yes i have been there, When our dog was put to sleep i also felt like we had murdered her. I remember she started to close her eyes but then opened her right eye and looked at me before shutting it again for ever.
It was the hardest thing we have done but we knew we had to end her suffering, it wasnt fair to keep her alive for our benifit.

I totally understand how you feel.
Sending you a gentle hug - and although it wont feel like it at the moment, the intense pain does get better

Much love
Michelle xxx

ajay, that was not a look of terror but of pleading for the relief you offered. You did the best possible thing for your lovely boy - you gave him peace and freedom from pain.

You did a very kind thing and Thomas probably understood more than you think.  RIP Thomas and loads of love and sympathies to you

:candle:To all you lovely Cat people who knew Thomas,my beloved rescue Siamese,I,m sad to announce that he has passed on to Rainbow Bridge.Words will never convey the special and close relationship that we shared. He brought me nothing but absolute love, joy and devotion.I,m totally heartbroken as are all my family and my other 3 cats.Little Henry his twin has been in my arms constantly and the last few days we,ve just snuggled up in bed crying together.Lucky for us we have my cheeky Amber and George too,who after alot of time and patience(and help and advice off Theresa and Christine) have settled in beautifully.THANK GOD !I held Thomas in my arms in his favourite blanky while the vet put him to sleep.I can honestly say that was the worst thing I,ve ever had to go through.I feel as though I,ve murdered him.I can,t get his little look out of my mind when I held him terrified in the vets.Has anyone else had the same experience as I m very traumatised.Thomas had bowel cancer and was incontinent for the last 6 months. That,s why I,ve not been on. It,s funny though because you are the only people(apart from my family) that I need to share this with.Thankyou all for being there....god bless you and my darling Thomas. x x
