Thanks.  You never forget them do you?  It doesn't matter how long they've been gone there are still times when it feels like yesterday.

8 years ago today since my fluffy boy left Jaffa and myself to go to the bridge. I'll never forget you my little cuddlebug and still miss you.  Mosi is doing his best to fill that empty space that you left and I swear he's channelling your spirit. A rather nortier and livelier version of you but he has many of your character traits for sure. You had your mischievous moments didn't you? Remember how many times I told Jaffa off for pinching the pan scrubber from the kitchen sink? Then I caught you in the act and realised it was you all along!

I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path that has been laid you see.

I took the hand when I heard the call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day.
To run, to love, to meow or play.
things left undone must stay that way.

I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void, then fill
it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savoured much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.
The Bridge wanted me now and set me free!

Go and make friends at the Bridge Magpie - run free and be happy, until you meet again

That is very sad, unfortunately nowadays I am hearing more and more cats that are losing their life to blood clots.

Magpie
« Reply #1 on: November 16, 2006, 20:45:14 PM »
I adopted Magpie as an 8 week old kitten, along with his brother Jaffa, in 1997.  He was a large, fluffy chilled out lad who was full of character.  Everything had to be on his own terms but fortunately he was a cuddlebug and very affectionate so was happy to have lots of cuddles.  His favourite hobby was sleeping and he got in a lot of practice seeking out the comfiest places (and some that looked like they couldn't possibly be comfortable!).  One of his favourite spots was on top of the wardrobe.

He was an indoor cat and one day last autumn I returned home from work to find him lying on the floor.  At first I thought he was just stretching out and waiting for me to go and rub his tummy, but I soon realised that he couldn't move.  He was whisked straight off to the emergency vet who diagnosed a blood clot in his neck.  He'd lost the use of both his front legs and his back legs, and despite intensive care and the best possible treatment from a lovely vet he didn't make it.  He died a few hours later.  He was only 8 years old :(  RIP my little lad and play hard at the bridge until I come for you.
