Aaah, they look lovely, so pleased Henny is settling in Lisa.

Would she let you trim her bottom area? It'll stop it getting too messy if theres not so much fur there!

Hi Everyone,
Henny (this is her nickname now) is doing brilliant and is getting ready for lots of treats when sabta comes!! :)
She is such a sweetie and so trusting despite everything that she has gone through.I'm brushing her everyday and we can do a few minutes with a baby brush without any treats but I'm taking things slowly with her, we'll just have to see what happens.
Henny does tend to get a dirty bottom pretty often (not a nice subject I know, sorry) which can be hellish difficult to clean especially if I don't see it and she goes into squirm mode!
Her favourite passtimes are sitting in her recently aquired avon box and guarding the fridge!!
My other four don't really seem to mind Henny all that much, Amber my other persian will hiss when she gets too close but otherwise she is invisible to her.
My young black boy Thomas has had to have two visits to the vets ib the last week, he was lameon one of his hind legs. The vet seemed to think it was an infected pad but after some injections ,medication and about £70 lighter he is starting to use his leg again so things are back on track.
I will try and post some more pics for you all son.
I'd also like to wish everyone a happy christmas and best wishes for the new year.

It is all a bit of a mystery really, not the sexing of her but the circumstances where she came from originally. The lady who had owned her with my Amber said she was a boy called Henry.
But you're right Henny or Henrietta (her Sunday name) is a little poppet!Despite all the abuse she has had she is very sweet and loves fussing.
Just wanted to say thanks again Saffron for your continued help. You are a lovely lady who has also been busy helping out on the my moggy website.I'd have posted the link but it isn't playing ball.
Lisa x :thanks:

Hi saffron & everone else,
Got some big news on Henry.Henry is actually now Henrietta.Henry is a girl NOT a boy!
I Had her scanned at my vets on Thursday and then rang the chip company to sort out ownershipdetails.I got the shock of my life when he said the chip number I gave was for a persian originally called Sophie  and born in 1998.
Poor little mite all this time and everyone has been thinking she was a boy.Even the vet didn't notice when she was shaved.
Apart from this shock Henry is fine, eating like a horse and settling in well with the others.Amber is still not keen but as they are both queens there is no surprises there.I think in time everything will be fine.It isn't even a month till Monday.
How is everyone else doing? Are we all ready for Christmas?
Will keep you all posted.

Lynn we don't find grooming that stressful but the ferals do - gracie was 15 when trapped and has come on in leaps and bounds but grooming is on her terms the others now queue in the morning along with 3 shorthairs!

The ferals we do on their terms as it doesn't destroy the trust we have already built with them

Another one with a real home for Christmas and the most wonderful birthday present

The grooming can be at time stressful - we have 4 long haired mggies ranging from we love brushing to Gracie our feral who you does the walking under the brush when as a lady she sees fit and a ragdoll who didn't like it as first but now loves being brushed and combed having trats to helps - try the bribery technique one brush - a treat - we use Royal canin fit 32 currently as treats!

Hi All,
Thanks for all your advice.I am going to look into groomers but having spoken to a very special lady tonight I have decided to keep Henry as I don't think I've given things a proper chance yet.She also gave me some advice on persians in general and the proper combs needed.
She has made my day, my birthday in fact.So I hope you don't mind me saying this but THANK YOU Saffron  :) you are a star!!!!

A star indeed.
happy birthday lisa.

Lisa, some dog grooming parlours groom cats as well, so I would ring round a few parlours and ask. If any do, then I would ask if they have a separate room for grooming cats, or at least a separate area for the cats, well away from the dogs, - or, even better, if they have a 'cat only' day, and also if they have someone who specialises in cats and therefore (hopefully) has empathy with them - and doesnt treat them just like a small dog!

The other alternative is to see if there is a mobile groomer in your area, sometimes you get individuals like myself who go to people's homes and groom their cats, or there are mobile grooming vans that also come to your home and the cat is groomed in the van. As Candyshandy suggested your vet might know of someone local.

Hi All,
Thanks for your good wishes in finding Henry a new home.A lady is coming to see him tomorrow night but whether it will be the right home I'll have to wait and see. Thanks Kelly for your offer if you want to give me a ring, I think my number is on my profile please do.
Gillian,
I'm not sure if there are any groomers around here, do they specialise in Persians?Or are they like a poodle parlour ?Sorry if I sound nieve but as I've said before Im a novice as far as grooming goes as until 6 months ago I've always had moogies!
Lovely to hear from you all.

Hi Lisa,
Glad to hear he's recovering from the poor treatment he had previously, shame you can't keep him though I understand your reasons. Its such a shame when grooming becomes a challenge because of previous bad handling. Hope you find a nice home for him.

Have you got a groomer near you who could help with Amber's coat?

Hi,
Henry is about 4/5 years and neutered, this is an estimate though as he was a rescue cat in the first place. He is living with me in South Yorkshire. He isn't bothered at all about other cats, not aggressive ones anyway and he doesn't mind my 10 year old boxer dog, although he has had bad experiences with dogs being allowed to chase him (not mine).
He is an indoor cat, he does go out into my yard with me but comes inside when I do.His favourite passtimes are EATING!! and sleeping.
If the right home became available I would be willing to travel if it meant the right place for him.Just one thing though I will ask a lot of questions and I'd also like to keep in touch so I could check he was ok.

Hi,
Just wanted to update you on Henry the persian boy I asked help with on cat chat a couple of weeks ago.
I brought him from my friends house to come and stay with us as she wasn't taking care of him and he was in a mess.He has now been shaved and has got a lovely fluffy head and tail and I'm sure he feels a lot better now he has got rid of his matts! He is eating like a horse and is using the litter tray (my friend said he didn't).He does have the odd accident though and usually this is in the same place.I can't work out why he's doing that though. He is a lovely lad who has been treated terribly in his 4/5 years of being alive.
Sadly I can't keep him permenantly as he is fine with my other 4 cats and boxer dog, but they dislike him intensely.I don't think I'd be able to manage the grooming either once his fur starts to grow back as not surprisingly he doesn't like being brushed at all.I alreadfy have one other persian, a red girl called Amber who came from the same house as Henry did originally. She has come on really well but I am struggling to cope with grooming with her winter coat.It doesn't help matters with me being registered blind. So if anyone can help with finding Henry a forever home where he can live the rest of his life in peace I'd be grateful to hear from you. There is no rush for Henry to go but I'd like to see him settled with somebody who has experience with persians as I think grooming him later on is going to be tricky.
Hope someone out there can help or advise.
Lisa
