But they pack a lot of love into those few short years........

Thank you for saying that, that's how I'll try to think of it.  :Luv:

Btw... this is now so off topic that I can't even remember what the thread is about...

picturing irish wolf in a mini

well this farm sounds very exciting and you've already bought it WOW.

re the age..they have shorter lifespans, i would have said 6 - 10 years but i think maybe its just something you have to take on board..i know what you mean though it would be a concern to me aswell as you like to think of getting atleast 15 years dont you (im scottish so like value for money  :evillaugh:  )

About the life span, personally I am a bit concerned about taking on animal with 7-8 years life span.  :( Of course, you never know how long you're going to be lucky enough to have anyone around. But it does seem like a very short time, and it's something I have talked to OH about quite a bit. Especially as I wouldn't mind taking on an adult dog - rescue/ex-breeding, rather than a puppy. But we'll see.

As for space - we'll we won't be getting any dogs until we've moved to Sweden, where we've bought an old farm. It's got an enormous barn and 50 acres of land (fields and forest), so I'm thinking we've got enough space.  We're clearly going to have to change cars, though... We have a Mini at the moment.  :-[

although they arent a common dog i have known both irish wolf and deer hounds not one single dog out of them all was anything but lovely..true gentle giants and i love their shagginess  :)

Its just such a pity that they are generally a shorter living breed  :(   but if someone had the room, transport and money i'd never put anyone off having one as i'd love to have spent more time around them.

Yeah, OH grew up with wolfhounds (in Ireland!), and there's a great photo of him as a toddler, sitting in between one dogs front legs while the dog is obviously keeping guard.  :Luv: Expensive to feed - well, so is my OH.  In fact, he's quite a bit like a wolfhound - big, lazy, shaggy, slightly scary-looking.

Oh 6kgs..i'll send you sebastian and poppy will seem very light

 I am sure! But Poppy is a 12 month old female... with a lot of growing still to do. NFCs are slow developers, and aren't fully grown until 3-5 years old.

(OH wants to get an Irish Wolfhound once we're no longer in London, so I suppose in comparision to that she will seem small.  ;))

codys always been very energetic although i'd also describe him as a laid back cat, its not in a permies nature to get strung out about stuff  ;)

Not sure about the food, ive put him onto maintenence light which he doesnt seem to have minded..he's not over weight but his "pouch" is quite noticable and really bugs me Lol.

He has had a few crazy turns lately..think its the time of year to be honest.

Aw...  :Luv:

Yes, it's lucky they can be so sweet - when they want to. Makes up for all the hard work.  :tired: Poppy used to be this very laid-back cat, until she turned 1! She's turned into a hyper-active kitten again! And that's quite scary when you consider that she's 6 kilos, quite clumsy, and has no idea of her size...

Must be the adult cat food... what do they put in there, drugs?

well would you believe it, i am in the kitchen doing bits n bobs with the dishwasher shelves half out (in middle of loading) and i pushed up the door so its lent against the shelves and only half shut.  Thats fine i move onto next task and the bloomin dishwasher door opens (scared the crap out of me)  and cody steps out   He reminded me of a dog in the agility classes coming down the other end of the seesaw

Keeping me on my toes, yes he certainly has been this week   :scared:

It will soon be 1 year since i got him aswell..think it was around the 2nd week of july..cant believe how fast time flys by.

Anya is 3 a week today..thats so sad  :'(  I hate kids birthdays as i get very depressed..stupid but thats the way i am.  I dont want another really but would give nearly anything to turn time back for a wee while.

I'll past that on to him and give him an even bigger smile  :evillaugh:

Well no chance of losing him today..I left the ironboard up in the living room last night (laziness) and today i still havent been able to put it away as he's taken up residence on his new bed surf board  LOL  (actually he's always loved the iron board)

Shall have to evict him soon though as i need to get house work done so i can try out my new hoover  :evillaugh:

Ah yes, the old linen closet trick. Claudey used to hid at the back so you couldn't see him then mock attack your hands as you put in the neatly pressed linen ..............

realised i had not seen cody for a while, he was asleep on my bed last i saw him so dutifully checked and nope he wasnt there (beginning to worry anya had scalped him too  :-: )

still no sign so i start to panic giving his earlier escapades..go to put hoover away in the cupboard and look what i find on my towels  :tired:

Me thinks he was awaiting fraser who often sleeps in the cupboard (floor !!) ready to ambush  :evillaugh:

(modified to say 1 ) cody doesnt look his normal sparkly clean..will need to bath him  :evillaugh: and 2) for gods sake please dont let mark see my raggamuffin towels .. he'll have a hairy canary   )
