I'll swap bills Liz - yesterday morning Lucy's bill was £854, and that doesn't include the £115 I paid on Wed. As she isn't home yet, that is likely to rise, and then she will likely need at least one more blood test and either an x-ray or surgery depending what the last two tests come back with.

Oh Stuart.

My original quote from our regular vet was £6-700 depending if he needed one or three teeth out, to be determined after the descale and polish. I took him to a different practice.

Thanks again Guys, just a wee update, Robbie is back to his usual self  :Luv: and I am Back to work  :P

Holy Cripes Paula, I thought My one was expensive, it was certainly more expensive than the last time he got a tooth out

off the top of my head it was broken down (roughly)

29:99 consultation fee
49:95 anesthetic
49:95 Dental
9:99 boarding ? He was taken in, in the morning at 9am and picked up at 16:30 - goodness knows what they charge per night?
payments for pain killers etc

plus vat

Och well LOL

Sorry I missed this Stuart. :-[ I am so glad that Robbie is more his normal self today. ;D As Sue said, it is very hard to keep a determined cat in when they don't want to be in.

I also think that you got a good deal. Merlin had a dental with one extraction a few weeks ago and it cost £259. Yikes! He managed to get out as well.

:shify:  That's cats fer ya.  Tricky little blighters all the time.  It's really hard to detain a determined cat without loss of blood, I find.  Whilst we can lock our internal sureflap, we usually resort to sticking my document case in front of it, and a small table from a nest of tables behind it.  As you've already seen, it doesn't always work.....

Good news about the blood tests, though no harm in telephoning back to ask if they covered off thyroid.  I do it quite often - "Oh hello - yes we were in today with (whoever) and have forgotten whether we should administer drops once or twice a day..."

Well the little Butter managed to get out again (never used the sureflap to lock him in before, think the times were wrong tho they looked fine to me?)
 :evillaugh: @ Tosker
He escaped Sue
Rosella there was no thunderstorm, he was like this the last time, just a bit freaked out, He was happier out the house, last time he curled up in next door neighbours garden and fell asleep - that time it was dry and sunny tho....ach well

Update, Mr Robert woke me up @ 04:30 with incessant meowing for food, he looks really bright and chirpy
just off the phone re blood results, not sure if they tested thyroid and can't remember if it was even mentioned
But apart from liver enzymes being slightly raised (nothing they are concerned about) his bloods came back absolutely fine  :wow:

Hope Robbie settled down OK Stuart

The price for dental isn't that bad as it covered an extraction  and price for bloods is a bargain.  When do you get blood results? Did blood test include thyroid?  I'd be surprised if it did tbh at that price.

Did you have thunder storm?   Just wondering if that's what may have spooked yer lad.  However, I've noticed a few of ours have looked a bit wide eyed for a few hours after general anaesthetic.  I always try and lock ours in overnight in bedroom after GA.  My nerves can't bear the worry otherwise.

my Tosker went out a dozen times after having 4 teeth extracted, and I woke up to find a mouse's head on the floor by the bed, and a ton of soil and leafy bits in the bed itself

so I'd keep him in for your own sake as well as his - he'll probably be flat out all tomorrow

I think I would try and keep him in if you can Stuart.  It could be an after effect of the anaesthetic.

Glad he only had to have one tooth out. What a shame the vet messed up the bloods though. It's a good price, I've just paid  £79 for Lucy's bloods

Hold on, take that Back, Robbie has pushed the biscuit box out of the way and has now escaped  and it's wet and raining outside

Not chasing him this time, last time he got a tooth out he escaped then too, I chased him to catch him but stopped when he ran out in front of a car  :scared:

hope he does the same as last time and reappears when he is hungry

Thank's people, it must have worked  :) only one lower canine removed, his upper one that's is broken is OK
lower canine had it's root showing so that couldn't have been good  :(
A currently drugged up Robert is still trying to get past the biscuit box wich is in front of the cat flap, I think he will give up shortly

nearly fell over with the bill too, £160 for one tooth extraction  I said well at least that is including the blood test
the receptionist looked puzzled and said "no, the bill is just for the dental"
 >:( I informed her that I had requested bloods to be done as he had lost some weight, loads of apologies and was asked "do I want it done?"
I said "Yes, that is what I requested" now I have to wait for the results plus it's another £39 for that
