I felt sick when this was on the news last night.  Would you have tried to grab the cat or risk fumbling it, or leave it be.

I think they did the right thing, and at least they didn't seem to get TOO far before they saw the cat!

Was terrifying but thank goodness all ended well.

Totally open plane so no where for cat to go.

I suspect cat jumped on wing as plane started moving and well done to pilot for landinf asap.

When the cat left did you see its bottlebrush tail?

I saw this on lunchtime news yesterday and also felt sick.  Heart raced like hell but couldn't look away.  The newscaster made it clear that no physical harm came to the cat before showing the video.

That is exactly what I asked my mom Sue!  I would not have touched it and would not have looked it in the eye either in case I distracted him/her.

Good point PB.  Perhaps preflight checks for such a small aircraft would in the main be for air worthiness not for stowaways and the cat may have jumped up unnoticed after they got in.  Maybe the cat was following the pilot as they said he was the club mascot or something so may well have known the pilot.  I very much hope this wasn't a set up.  Doesn't bear thinking about.  I watched some nutter on Channel 5 yesterday who has taught his dog and cat scuba diving.

From a totally logical point of view, what was the pilot doing when he did his preflight checks, surely they have to do them as well as other flyers.  I am so glad they all got down safe and sound.

Fortunately the cat managed to keep its claws on the aircraft's frame until the pilot could land it and now has its paws on solid ground.
