Just back from the vet and a full analysis of his sample is also showing campylobactor :(

Archie now also has abs for ten days.

He is showing signs of picking up though and hope this will do the trick.

Have to take him back a week Monday

Sending lots of   for you and Archie.  Is it Panacur he's been given.  Bunty and Biggles were suspected of having Giardia when they were younger and presented with blood in their poo so the vet gave them that.   I suspect he was right because both got better.   ;D  Biggles, however, started again with tummy troubles and that time the vet did every test imaginable (including Giardia) and all came back negative so he 's now classed as having a sensitive tummy.  Very scientific.  :shify:

Just back from vet and surprised to find the poo sample shows he has Protozoa Giardia as never heard of it

Matthew says it could cause all the symptoms he has been having.

He has powders for ten days but have to take him back Friday for check up.

If symptoms come back after treatment then Archie does have colitis on top of this

Has anyone else had a cat with this

Hope the RC helps

I would not put him thro anything that was likely to be inconclusive tbh, cant see the point.

I may also help you to keep a diary that shows what is happening around Archie in the house that is not the norm to see if stress is playing a part.

Thanks Rosella

I  was given the diet at the vets yesterday so only into second day. Both Parki and Archie like the Royal C sensitive biscuits which is a relief as would be tricky to feed sep. Archie has not requested a half pouch of food yet but when he does I have the Royal C sensitives ones.

I have been giving Parki treats when he is asleep as they are a no no for him now.

He is very sleepy and has been on my bed most of the day, not like him at all :(

You are right and good idea to give this new diet a good go first.

I have to take a sample of his doings in too. The vet will do a colestomy colonoscopy investigation if I want but said it more than likely would be inconclusive.  Poor Archie :( I have to take him back on the 24th to see how he and the diet are going.  Thankfully they both love the biscuits so no probs there.  If this does not work will think about raw.

I've just been reading through your posts since April Alison and yes I do see that the condition is becoming more frequent.  Dare I ask how much of a careful proper try you have given a change of diet?  Having a hoard of furry piglets here, I know how difficult it would be to introduce a different feeding regime but we have had to do it to separate our lot so they are fed in 4 different rooms.  I just think giving a change of diet a chance is so less invasive to start with?

Thanks Heather you are right :shy:

Hi Rosella, not all the time but a day or two before a bout Archie is not himself that is sleepier and quiet. When he has a poo it is loose and there is fresh blood in it usually at the end bit

I usually take him to the vet at this stage as it may clear but comes back again.

He was having two or three bouts a yr until 2015 when over the last few months it seems as soon as the anti inflam wears off it comes back.

Through a bout he goes off his wet food a bit, half a pouch a day. Vet says it is prob as he associates it with the pain :( Otherwise he eats some biscuits.

He rarely has a temp. The vet also feels his tum and cannot feel any growths, however his tum can be bloated
