thank you all

i have filled out a form at Cats Protection as a volunteer, somedays i feel like i would like to adopt a new friend but then i get very anxious and unsure.

Another Saturday has passed, that is 14 now without you.  :'(
Almost 4 months and i can't believe it, sometimes i wish it was all just a dream and then i wake up from this nightmare.
I still think about the last meal i gave you on boxing day, i was carving the turkey, turned around and there you were...
sitting silently behind me, you crafty boy!
You had an extra special last meal, you ate every bit gorgeous :)

What a lovely boy.

I just wanted to say don't beat yourself up about your grief for Rossi. When I lost my last cat I was devastated. People who don't have relationships with their pets don't understand, and that makes it hard, because you have to pretend you are ok. When inside you feel you've lost your best friend and a member of your family. It took me a long time to be ok again and I still have a little cry now and then when I think of her although it's more happy memories. It's been 9 years now since she went and I have 2 lovely cats that I love just as much, but they are so different they will never take her place. I don't really have any advice, just try to think of the good times, he was a lucky boy to have lived with someone who cared for him like you obviously did. I didn't have Purr unfortunately when I lost my cat but it's nice to know that there are other people around who feel like you do.

Have you thought about fostering or something like that? I fostered a Mum cat and kittens and I think sometimes helping other cats can help to take your mind of your loss.

What a beautiful memorial, Andrew.

When I work in my garden, I always think of my Bridge Babies, as they derived so much pleasure from the garden.  It does hurt, but it also brings me great comfort too, and I hope in time you'll find the same.

The stone is lovely Andrew   As for how your feeling, I know it doesn't seem like it right now, but it will get better

Thanks Allison, i really don't feel like doing much more at the moment as it brings back memories.
I will work on the grave in the summer.

You are obviously a very caring cat loving person, maybe in time you can think of offering a home to another furry friend?  :Luv:

Hi heather, thanks for saying so.

I do have another cat.

A stray which we found 2 years ago in a very bad shape.  Clumped Fur, Going Blind and starving... was living in my garden in the recycle bin.
Obviously our relationship is at a younger stage but shes been a great comfort to me.
She has lost the ability to jump up on things but she is very very affectionate and follows me everywhere.

Hi all,

Just checking in, the weather here has been very wet so i only got to put the stone in last week.

Also i have been very depressed and have this empty anxious feeling all the time which i just can't seem to shake.
I cannot enjoy anything anymore, its just not the same peaceful feeling i had when i knew Rossi was near me.
The summer is going to hurt so much, he loved sunbathing and when i was trimming the bushes he would dash about after the little twigs and roll over for a belly rub.

thanks for reading and i wish you all the best :)

That's lovely Andrew. I hope you'll post a pic of the real one when it arrives. I had one done for Lily when I lost her. She's buried in the garden next to Simba.

Thank you all so much, for your lovely comments about my boy :)

It has not gotten any easier so far, i feel like I'm having panic attacks especially at night after it gets dark.
Your constantly on my mind, i need to know that i will see your sweet face again one day.
I find it hard to believe its been 40 days without you, i miss buying all your favourite cat food.

Ellie misses you alot too, she still looks for you to be lying in your usual places.

I miss you son :(

Hello Andrew.  Welcome to Purrs.

Thanks for sharing your memories of Rossi - it's a very painful time in the aftermath of losing a loved one, and it's very clear you and Rossi had a very special bond.  In time, you will be able to pull out the great memories without feeling quite so much heartache.

You can share any of your thoughts, memories and photos  here and be in very good company.  All of us know what its like to be wearing your shoes right now, and our hearts and thoughts go out to you.

Rossi was a very handsome cat.  Beautiful.  Am very very partial to  our red tigers.   :Luv2:

Hi,

I had to put my Rossi  to sleep on 27.12.14
He had been in heart failure but got worse over the last 3 months with difficulty breathing and at the end he could not sleep lying down and stopped eating.
When i woke up that morning he was just standing there staring at me, like we both knew it was time.

The Vet was extremely good and i am grateful that he went quickly and painlessly. We all stayed in the room while he took his final breath, i sensed some relief there.

We have him buried in our back garden, exactly where he would sit and protect his garden from any other predators.

He was about 14yrs old and my best friend over the years, always there for me.

I could not look at any pictures of him until now, i have attached one.

Reading other peoples memorials has comforted me greatly in this painful time.

Thanks to anyone for reading.

Andrew.
