Thanks Tiggysmom, I have got both Hills & RoyalCanin LD foods, & a houseful of every natural cat food there is. She's not eating much of anything & at this stage I'm just relieved no matter what she eats as foods vital. I didn't give her the Samylin yesterday & she was extremely sick through the night so I'm not certain the meds were the reason & will start giving her it today again. She sees the vet tomorrow for blood work so I'm hoping it tells me that there's improvement. She's a poor wee mite, just miserable & the jaundice is horrible so I'm so hoping her results are hopeful as it's hard to see any improvement looking at her so lifeless. Thanks for your reply, it helps to have input when your so close & tied up in watching all the time.

I haven't used it personally but my cat is treated by a specialist referral vets and the meds he is on are possibly causing liver issues - the internal medicine specialist there has said the only real option is S-Adenosylmethionine - which I see is contained in Samylin. Apparently the effects aren't proven but it's pretty much all there is so it sounds like you have a clued up vet. Have you looked into liver support foods? I'm sure Hills do one.

Samylin Liver supplement
« Reply #1 on: June 29, 2014, 01:09:43 AM »
Hi has anyone used Samylin Liver supplement  (sachets) with their cat.Oggy has been given it to try and help her liver repair . She had her first sachet mixed with food today and she has eaten quite well today but tonight has been pretty sick 3 times and brought her food back. I don't know if the samylin has anything to do with her being sick, but I am worried as the important thing is she must eat if there is any chance of recovery and it is no ggod her losing the nourishment from her food by being sick. she has eaten well this last 4 days, little amounts but often and saw our vet on Thursday who was very pleased she was eating as again he told me getting enough calories into her is the only sure way to combat this disease and I am at my wits end as to what to do now, th Samylin would help her liver detoxify as a supplement to food but if it is it that's made her sick then is it worth giving when she is finally eating on her own and asking for food for the first time in weeks I don't know whats  best.
I have researched samylin and all say it is a safe, helpful boost to restoring liver function but what if it just disagrees with my Oggy and undoes any good her food is doing and food is the key to her beating this, really don't know whats best.
