They do spend the first few weeks under chins and other places. As they get more mature they migrate to different chairs and furnishings.  my Billy has several baskets of all types and sizes to drop into when they take his fancy. He is one just now.

Yul tries to nuzzle Billy but Billy doesn't really like it. Yul is a lot cuddlier in general. Billy likes a fuss but when he is lying down he'd rather be on his own. Yul lies down on top of me. He's actually curled up under my chin right now.

I've seen similar happenings with my other cats and the toy Yorkie. They used to nuzzle him from his basket and jump in . It was funny to see them leapfrog over him.

:evillaugh: :evillaugh:   heh heh heh - now isn't that just the lovesliest thing?  :wow:  (not you feeling left out, no - not that bit!)

Our dog Tess got on really well with Paddy, our old cat, and prior to that, our previous dog Kindee doted on Paddy and Flynn, the other cat we had then.  When Kindee's eyesight failed and her hearing went, they used to act as her eyes and ears, and were very protective of her.  It's so lovely to see the friendships that can be forged between dogs and cats.   :Luv: :Luv:

Billy is on home trial... Seeing whether I can manage his outdoors issues. Inside the house he's perfect... And they're really good together. They do chase each other but since they took turns I feel it's fine. Besides Yul only gets caught when he wants to. Billy's pretty slow with stairs with his little terrier legs so Yul is always one step ahead.

Ahhhh bless ... only just catching up on this thread.  I assume Billy has moved in then  :innocent:

Yes ... cats love food that has been stolen, or even better is manky old food that no self respecting cat would be caught dead eating .. unless it is thrown out for the birds, then it become the tastiest morsel ever

Is this the sort of cat tree (with a Westie hidey hole) ... http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/scratching_posts/small/small_cat_trees_height_80_cm/37574

They are just so lovely. I've been through these things with all my previous kittens. Dogs can't get on top of high things like cats can. It's best to have a toy just to distract them when you don't want them in certain places. My Billy is really placid and settled now some nearly eight years later. He is looking out the windows just now at the gales .

Window sills, stove top, and every part of the kitchen counter have been conquered. There are a couple of shelves that he hasn't been on yet but it's probably lack of interest, not ability.

It was bound to happen. Yul just toileted in the gravel I was rinsing to use in an aquarium. Mental note: all plastic boxes with sand in them are the same to a cat.

     that reminds me of  the "sand pit" story my Mum told me.  When I was very young (2 or 3 ) I had a sand pit in the garden that my dad made for me.  I used to spend many a happy hour building sand castles and mud pies until one day my mum realised that our 2 siamese's were also using the sand pit as a giant litter box!!!  Needless to say I was promptly remove from the pit and it was later designated as a "no go" area  until my dad had dismantled it.  It was several years later that Mum explained why I no longer had a sand pit to play in

When they are finally mature  you chuckle at their past antics but it's not quite so amusing at the time when something expensive has gone in the bin. Not the cat though. It is still sitting there looking quite innocent.  :shify:  Well that was only a Ming vase . My fault for leaving it on that stand.

Too true.  Over the weekend Moray managed to demolish a standard lamp, and pull over a hoover which was stacked away in a cupboard.  Thankfully, he wasnt hurt.  :innocent:

At that age, they don't see any danger. You have to be constantly checking that they won't get hurt or chew a mains lead or something. My one had a fad for wire radio aerials which he often broke. Still would if some were on show. You don't want to part with them for many a long year.

When my last pair before Billy were kittens, they used to leap into my toy Yorkies basket and push him onto the carpet. They all used to race after each other. The dog was about 14 at the time they arrived on the scene. He lasted until he was about twenty. Must say they were really quite content living in the house together .
