The concoction of anaesthetic and pain killer they give during dentals would mean he wouldn't have any pain when he woke up, no "hangover" as such, Stuart.

He's more likely just p*ssed off at being hauled to the vet - look what happened last time!

I bet he feels tons better for having those broken teeth removed.  :) So glad he came back quick, they're a worry when they're drunk. At least now you know which garden he uses as a toilet.  :-[

Oh and most of ours (boys and girls) spray on occasion despite being neutered ............ most even manage to spray only outside   :innocent:

Forums are great aren't they.

I wonder how many peeps on here have learned a lesson about not letting "post op puds" out of da house and providing litter tray and it's down to you Stuart!  ;)

So glad the boy staggered back and hope he is pretty well back to normal this morning?

Yeah, I keep thinking that if Robbie used a litter tray, I would never have let him out in the first place
He does know how to use them cause when we first got him, he was confined to the kitchen, but as soon as he was allowed out
it soon became apparent that he prefers the great outdoor's to use as a toilet, the grit box was put away.
I have even seen him spraying on tree's in our garden  I thought they did not do that once they were de-testisized  :-:

part of my preparations for stretchy coming home was to get his food. water and bed all ready, it never even crossed my mind
about the litter tray

oh well hind sights a great thing

Hoping he has forgiven you this morning ;)

Can I just add that when any of mine travel boxes are padlocked and the cats stays in box till at destination as we do not feed enroute and have special water bowls for the boxes and drip water bottles it does depend on the cat and the circumstances and if you listen to vets guidance which we do

Have to say ours come home fully awake and with it but our vets use a lighter anaesthetic and we have had ops on cats from youngsters to oldies with no adverse effects

Hopefully by now he has gone to bed and will sleep it off.

This is why sedating cats when travelling is not recommended by most vets

That is very good news Stuart, thank you for letting us know.

It reminds me of when my, much missed, Chivvy had some teeth out and a cyst removed from his shoulder. The vet didn't put him in a collar because he thought that, as Chivvy was elderly and had a leg missing, there was no danger of reaching the wound to lick it. The intructions were to keep him in, feed soft food and keep an eye on the wound. Within 10 minutes of getting home Chivvy had broekn out through the cat-flap, nicked his sisters dry food and legged it up the garden where he proceded to sit and lick the wound!

aye Slugsta, they are pretty resilient  I didn't think he could run, how wrong i was

Thank goodness he is home  ;D ;D

Yeha, Gill, your telling me, he's still wandering around the kitchen, doesn't know what to do with himself, just wish he would go to his bed and sleep it off, thats what Hamish and Misty did when they got Teeth removed, I'm also VERY releaved that his bloods came back normal, that was a worry, the vet also said that his teeth were in pretty good condition and their guesstimate of his age 6-7 seems pretty accurate

the teeth removed were the broken canine and one of his molars that had quite a deep hole in it

sigh................Ok.. 2 teeth removed, bloods came back normal  :)

I would have been ecstatic posting this but...........................

the sigh is to do with Stretchy the staggerer not going to his bed and stottin around the kitchen like a lost lamb
noticed he was dribbling, I thought it was from his mouth but it turned out to be wee

I then got it into my mind that he was maybe bursting for the toilet and was trying to hold it in
in my wisdom and due to his inebriated state, I came out with the bright idea to let him outside  :scared:
I think he is two gardens away now

I know exactly how you feel though - we finally made the call to book our little furball in for her dental on Friday (probably an almost total extraction) and I am not looking forward to it at all :/

Had both my girls done late last year/early this year. The waiting is the worst bit, once you pick them up it's fine! Both of mine were a little disorientated when they got home but it didn't stop them eating. I got them some roast chicken and chopped it up quite fine - that went down well!

Lu had a dental (albeit only a scale and polish, no teeth out) but it was so uneventful I can't even remember what he was like afterwards so fingers crossed the same can be said for Robbie!  Let us know when he's back home

Both Noni and Millie were pretty groggy for a couple of hours.  I picked up a tin of AD for each of em and they noshed on that for first evening.  All back to normal next day  :)

Sending very positive vibes to the main man.  If he's anything like our lot, think he'll find tonight's starving and confinement the main issue

Having been through 5 dentals so far this year would say he will be groggy so suggest soft food for a couple of days till the gums settle, having said that Miss Clio feral my alpha female Hyperthyroid was crunching biccies within 25 mins of coming home and she had 9 teeth removed gum lesions being her problem she is now another gumless wonder at the Clan - all eat wet food and biccies and love catmilk another good thing for them to come home to

He may want to sleep for some time but would keep him in for 24 hours and ensure he gets a Covenia jab to cover any potential infection

Sending all our good luck for Robbie and his pacing Daddy for tomorrow

Robbie going in for dental work tomorrow
When Robbie got his Booster jab, and the vet gave him a quick once over and discovered that two of his teeth are broken
well, she asked me did I notice if he was in any pain?? at the time I said no, he still eats his biscuits, infact, he mainly eats his biscuits
rather than his wet food all of the time....

then I started to ponder?? hmmm, he used to eat his food OK, then he became very fussy?? ok with biscuit's but the wet food more than
often was put in the bin?? as Robbie was a stray, he was very rarely around when his food was put down, mainly because he is out 70%
of the time  anyway, I started hearing him coming in, and would go through to watch him eating, I have now came to the conclusion
that his teeth must be causing him pain, as he seems to swallow the biscuits whole? He used to crunch them before?? also, some of the
ones he picked up with his mouth, he was spitting them back out / dropping them? his eye's also seem to be watering all the time too,
but maybe that's nothing to do with it

Anyway, I have booked him in to get his teeth done tomorrow, at least one of the upper canines will be getting removed as it only has about
3-4mm showing from the gum line  :( not sure about the lower canine on the opposite side? it just seems to have the tip broken off
Vet also mentioned there was some tartar build up to, so hopefully get that cleaned up aswell

first off, I am expecting to get Robbie back between 3 - 5 pm, guessing he might still be groggy? but does it take long for them to return to
normal eating habits?? ( hopefully this is what is making him fussy )

and finally can you please send positive vibes for the big man for tomorrow  :scared: ;)
