Luckley i have a matress protector on it and that is stopping her. For now i have the matress up againt the wall so she is back to using the box.

I am going to try that product you recomended Tiggy's Mum see if that helps. But for now she will be ok. Going to try and phase her out of that room. But unfortunatly she somhow manages to force the door open by slamming her body against it. So for now proping the matress up has helped.

Great stuff here. I'd get a hotel quality mattress protector too, and quick before she ruins the bed. It might take you a while to relieve her of this habit, so at least you can rest safe knowing she's not doing insurmountable damage.

RX66 is very good, I use it too.

I would suggest taking your new baby to the vet for a quick check up .... with all the stress of rehoming she may well have developed a bit of cystitis.

Hi, maybe try completely covering the mattress with stuff, anything that prevents her from getting a spot to wee on. We have to do that with our new boy, he likes to get up on work surfaces and sleep so we put pans and cups on it so he can't get a spot!

One of ours used to do this unfortunately the only way we could break the habit was to keep the door shut after a couple of months she was allowed back in and seven years later has never done it again

Cats have extremely sensitive sense of smell so think that she can still smell her previous doings which will be attracting her. I would clean it wuith a specialist urine remover - you can get some brands from places like Pets at Home or any pet shop - simple solution and urine off are two that I have heard of but I use one from an online supplier which is industrial strength - it does urine, vomit and faeces!  I would also try and keep her out of that room to stop a habit forming!

The one I used is called RX66...

I've used RX66 in the past with great success, it's an industrial strength enzyme based cleaner. It comes 'neat' you have to dilute some 1:10 with water to clean the area then spray on the full strength, cover with plastic (to prevent drying) and leave for a couple of hours. It has completely got rid any smell - it works on urine, poo and vomit.

You can get the 500ml bottle cheaper, and larger quantities, direct from the maufacturer but I seem to recall they had a minimum order - possibly £15 from memory.

Hi, I recently rescued a young cat from a local rescue and need some help. Her name is binx.

I am having trouble and I am hoping the experienced cat owners here can help me. Binx is fine with using the little box however. When she can get at it she prefers to go to the bathroom on the guest bed mattress. Can any of you recommend a way of discouraging her from using this as her bathroom spot. I have tried cleaning it and I can t smell anything on the bed that is attracting her. I was thinking of trying fabreese to cover whatever smell is drawing her to it. But I wondered if you knew of something that may work better
