Gill, Beau went through something similar when he was bitten on his back - off his food, high temperature, vomiting, no bounce in his legs... our vet at the time didn't spot the damage and assumed he had fallen badly, but I mentioned there had been a wet patch on his fur which might suggest he had been fighting.

Turns out he had a massive abscess on his back that was pressing into the spine and knocking his nerve out of kilter. Once discovered the abscess needed to be squeezed which was excruciating for him ( he bit me through to the bone, and the hot green gunk hit the vet in the eye) but the moment it was done he started to improve.

I hope there's as simple a solution to Lupin's issues, def get the vet to check his spine for any hot spots, as it does sound exactly the same symptoms, Beau was even the same age, just two.  :(

Sorry to hear about Lupin being so poorly, the absolutelast thing you need right now

Lupin is otherwise strong and healthy so have everything crossed he recovers quickly, it sounds similar to what happened to Riley a year or so ago - no explanation for it whatsoever.

all very strange Gill, he hasn't taken a tumble or something and hurt himself, I suppose that doesn't really account for the sickness though, ignore me I'm thinking out loud!

Have just come back from visiting and he is not a happy bunny.

They had moved him to the kenneks where Ducha stayed cos of all the dogs needing ops but they say they will move him back asap because he has gone downhill since veing moved. Apparently he was rolling around and playing and getting loots of attention and now he is lying degectedly in a corner.

He still hasnt eaten and wouldnt eat the food I took.

His back is very sore cos I stroked it very gentley and he put his teeth on my finger and moved further back into his corner.

They dont know what has caused all this and are waiting for Gareth to come back tomorrow.

Ellie the vet said that they will put him on a pain killer  to see if it helps his back.

She thinks he maybe able to come home tomorrow and thinks they will be able to sort out the insurance.

So am sending lots of love to Lupin on his second birthday and hope that tomorrow they will have decided what is wrong with him.

The only good think is that he is not deteriating and he hasnt been sick since he was there, he looks very tired.

Gill, am sorry to hear about Lupin's enforced stay at the vet, and am sending every best wish and lots of love for you both.

It sounds as if it may be something bacterial perhaps, if its not related to his smaller kidney?  Either way, we want this sorted and your lovely boy home again to be plaguey with Marvellous Misman and Miss Sasa (Ma'am)

Lupin was not well over the weekend being sick and not eating.

Took him to the vets yesterday just before Purrs went down and Gareth thought he had eaten something he shouldnt have and may need immediate surgery.

He was put on a drip and blood tests showed he was a bit dehydrated and he had xrays cos he was in a lot of pain innhis tummy.

They didnt show any foreign body but a build up of gas and diarhrea and apparently he has expelled a lot of stinky gas.

He is stable but has a sore back and probably also his tummy and he hates vets touching him there, Gareth and I were nearly killed by Ducha yesterday!

Xrays show he has one kidney smaller than the other but what is causing his problem is not solved.

They want to keep him in tonight and say although he is stable he is not right and think they are also waiting for Gareth to come back tomorrow cos he doesnt work on Tues.

I am just off to visit shortly and take his normal food in cos he isnt eating. He is on anti sick meds and also abs and wont touch the GI food
