Yes I can't wait to get him! He looks similar to the one we have now (in that he is also a tuxedo kitty) so they'll look like a couple of bookends :) He has some rust in his coat as well when the light hits his fur, which is really different! Anyway, I will post photos when he is safe and sound with us :D

;D   Oh no - fully understand.

The setttling in bit is so important.   We unfortunately ended up doing just that ourselves last year - we acquired Mac just a week before we went on holiday - like you, we have an excellent pet-sitter who lives in whilst we're away, and she took very good care of our little man, but we couldn't enjoy the holiday because we just wanted to be back home with him, and we were worried about the bonding process - needn't have been, I confess, because he was just so  full of love he had more than enough to go round, but each cat is different, and it's a very sensible decision that you've taken.   :)

Look forward to see photos of Jasper when he arrives, and hope in the meantime you have a lovely break next weekend.

In two weeks - we are away next weekend and although we have a wonderful cat caregiver that comes in if we are away for the weekend, I didn't want to leave him for that even that long when he is just settling in. I can't wait!

That's super news for Jasper.  :wow:     Try not to worry about Ben - I'm sure that there will be someone out there who's just right for Ben too, and you have to do what's right for you - better to rehome one cat in exactly the right place than ten in the wrong ones.

When is he coming home, then?   ;D

Thought I would post an update. We did go and see Ben and he is a beautiful cat - even prettier than the picture posted - he has lovely fur and a beautiful apricot and cream coloured raccoon tail. We had one other cat that we had arranged to meet as well that day . . . so I am sad to say that sweet little Ben still needs a home but a wizened old boy named Jasper will be joining our family in two weeks time.

Jasper is a black and white kitty that has been in a shelter for over a year. They think he is about 10 but I would guess him closer to 14 - he has a scruffy little face, a mangled ear and just generally looks like he was a scrapper in a former life. He is super affectionate, a real love bug. I am pleased as well that, as he was rescued from a clan of 14 cats, I know he is well used to other cats. I feel terrible that I can't take both him and Ben - but I can't.  :(  At the end of day, the decision came down to a connection with little Jasper and my heart just told me he was the one. I can't wait to bring him home and will post pictures once he is settled in.

Ben is home alone after his owner died. His daughter lives in Lincs and has arranged for neighbours to feed him. We have no space to take him in a present. He is about 9 or 10 years old.

Hi Angie,
I modified my initial post to better describe what I am looking for. What is the ginger boy's name?

Hi everyone,

Just purusing the forum looking for a new baby! (Well, actually not a baby, hoping to find an affectionate senior male as a lovebug for me and a companion for our tuxedo kitty Drill!)
We moved over from Canada two years ago and I rehomed my beautiful Abyssinian there (didn't feel she could make the trip without severe trauma) and I miss her dreadfully. I know nothing will ever replace her in my heart but Drill is primarily a "man's cat" and enjoys ignoring me (despite the lovely plush red velvet bed I sewed for her!  ) We are well settled in now and are ready to find a companion for her and me both!

I have been looking at so many websites that my head is swimming! The number of poor little kitties needing homes is heartbreaking. So, off to look some more for "the one"!
