Thanks for asking about him, sadly he's not eaten much this morning, not even the chicken which he ate a good bit of over the weekend.     Can't even blame it on his snuffles as he hasn't got any at the moment.    Will see how he does over the course of the day and may well ring vet later.

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice for Oska, but I didn't want to read and run.  It can't be easy for you watching him go through this. How is he today?

I'm sure it is because of the change in cats diets that we hear more of it these days.

Wouldnt surprise me at all  :tired:

I think it is a life long condition but I could be wrong.     My vet told me what was wrong over phone on Friday just as I was about to go in for hospital appointment so couldn't really ask any questions.     Will find out more this week.     I'm sure it is because of the change in cats diets that we hear more of it these days.

Is triaditis  curable or is it a lifelong condition? We seem to be hearing of more cats being diagnosed with this over the past few years don't we?

thanks everyone.      Its much appreciated.      He enjoyed a fair bit of chicken earlier, as am pleased to say.     The three types of food approach does seem to encourage him to eat more.         Its so sad seeing him so thin as he was a big hefty boy in his prime  :(

   for you both. My friend's little cat was suspected of having that and the symptoms are horrible. I so hope Oska has some food. Lots of love. Xxx

okay well a few more tests done with Oska.     He has triaditis .   Unfortunatly there is nothing more vet can do for him, as he's already taking all the treatments for triaditis anyway.       Poor baby.       We are trying to persuade him to eat with a mixture of hills i/d, rc sensitivity control and chicken.      He doesn't have much of an appetite though.   have to take him back in a week

Sorry Oska is so ill.
I cant add any advice  apart from the Bisolven which Gill mentioned -it helped Smartie a little bit , but as he had Cancer in his nose it wasnt much good for him really.

Hope the vet can sort something out and maybe a steroid injection to help with his appetite!?

Sorry Cazzer  Wonder if Bisolvin would help to relieve the mucous?

Oska's not well
« Reply #1 on: March 05, 2012, 20:16:42 PM »
well a month after loosing his sister Oska has been back to vets.       He's been suffering with arthritis, and takes painkiller [vetergesic] for this and because of his diet problems he is also on steroids.       This suppresses the immune system and he keeps on getting upper respiractory tract infections [which isn't great if you are a persian  :(] so at moment is also on AB's.       Despite regular B12 injections as well he is loosing weight and doesn't weigh much anyway.     He's had blood tests taken tonight and vet will update us tomorrow.      He's got a hanky around his neck with olbas oil on and he's been also put a carrier in a tent with steaming water/olbas oil.      He is still full of gunge though in his eyes and nose poor lad.     He is also tender in his tummy.

He is the last of my persians and I don't think we will ever get another........
