Thanks all :) Her wee this evening is still v. dark but I'm hoping some normal water drinking will rectify that for her :) She's soooooooooo pleased to be out of the cone and has been running around like a total nutter (which Jasmine isn't very happy about as she keeps getting divebombing so there's been much hissing and screetching at her from Jasmine-cat).

Hi Gill - yep we had an appointment at 3pm so just got back :) She said the wound looks fine and the swelling is likely a reaction to the internal stitches but she's happy with how it's healing. Meg's had 3 more wees overnight/today that all look normal so she said it could be a bit of stress cystitis and has given her an anti-inflamatory/painkilling jab and has said to leave the cone off now so it doesn't affect her drinking (as she was struggling to drink with it on) to feed her a bit more wet than dry food and see how things settle. Any more blood and they'll do a urine test.

All in all things are looking good I think and no more cone for Meg :)

Try adding some water to her food.

I was windering if something had been left inside her but think she would be far iller than she is, if that was the case.

Hope the vet can sort her out tomorrow and that its nothing serious

Thanks Dawn :) I did also think maybe she's not drinking enough as the buster collar does impede her a bit  :scared: I do take it off so she can eat and drink but she never seems to want the water as soon as the cone is off. Will see if I can get her to have a drink now :)

I honestly couldn't say but I've never heard of it being a complication my own vet often does midline spays - maybe the stress of the op has given her a bit of cystitis?  I don't know I'm just speculating - try not to panic too much it will be morning soon

Could something like a bladder infection be related to a spay I wonder? I wondered if as she's had a midline spay that might cause more complications?

not very helpful, if she is ok in herself she is probably fine although red wee could be a bladder infection

Just spoke to the out of hours vets who were totally useless  :scared: Got some woman and I couldn't even really understand what she was saying, I explained everything and she said she'd let me speak to the vet and then she came back on the line saying the vet can't speak to me but said all they can say is bring her up if you've worried as they can't give you any advice over the phone (which seems a bit pointless I thought!!). Not much option other than to keep an eye on her overnight and ring my own vet at 9am  :scared:

Thing is the out of hours vets is miles away and I wouldn't be able to drive her there tonight so I think I'd worry myself more if I do speak to them and then can't get there  :scared: She's fine in herself, tearing around like a loony and eating/drinking normally. I've seperated her and Jas for the night and put a clean litter tray in with her so I'll know for sure it's her wee (although I'm 99.9% sure it is)

I was due to take Meg kitten back to the vets to check her spay wound again (she's had a mid line spay for some reason) as it's been really swollen and the swelling hasn't gone down since the op (which was last Tuesday)  :scared: She's just had a wee and it was really dark (almost brown) and it looked like there were small flecks of blood in the wee so I'm having a bit of a panic  :scared:

Am going to ring the vets first thing and get a vet appointment (rather than a nurses one) but all sorts of things are running through my head now about something having gone wrong internally  :scared: The lump that's appeared almost looks like some sort of hernia  :scared:
