Weeing in water bowl

Thanks everyone - don't want to speak too soon but it didn't happen overnight last night or at all today so will see how we go.  OH suggested that possibly the smell of chlorine from tap water is a cause so have given them bottled.   I have loaned out my crate at the moment but will get it back so I can separate them if it starts again.

Chris this is the closest we have to your problem

This is Miss Clio of the Clan cats who went in our great breakout the day after we moved them and took me 6 long months of trapping to get back

She only did it a couple of times but sometimes  seperating them and popping them in to a crate in the same room as the others and trying the one by one sceario may identify the culprit

Chris, I think you need to identify the offender.

Can you separate them, say put one in a different room overnight with the "offending" bowl?

At least then you can monitor one cat's behaviour and health instead of all 4 being in the frame.

If they were older I'd be suggesting cystitis - but think cystitis is unusual in kittens. The only reason I'm thinking that, is because my Harry, who's just been treated for cystitis - was targeting water bowls when he was suffering from it.

I've never heard of weeing in the water bowl - are you sure it's wee and not a biscuit dropped in and disolved discolouring the water? If it is wee then it may be one for Vicky Halls!

We have four foster kittens who are nearly five months old and over the last few days I have noticed wee in the drinking bowl.   I have changed the bowl for a different type, taken away the plastic mat underneath, moved the bowl to another place but it still happened.   The first time was overnight and I thought perhaps there was a problem with the trays being too used but it has happened since with virtually unused trays.  It is only in the bowl and not elsewhere.   Any ideas ?
