Thanks for that!   I didn't actually go to rescue them, Sue went.....where animals are concerned, she's got no fear!

On CC a rescue wanted to go and get the kittens!! I've been ringing my rescue and this other one, but no-one is getting back to me, so, at the moment, i don't actually know where they are!  :(

We have another problem now......over 20 cats and kittens in a couple of gardens. The people are willing to carry on feeding the adults once they've been neutered, but don't want the kittens.........there are pics on CC if you go on there.

Any offers for the kittens, anyone??

so so sorry to hear whats happened to mommy cat  :(
Please dont upset yourself over it though, you were the one that went in and got her help when she needed it most. as had been said she may have had something else the may have made her ill as god only knows what she was suffering from after being treat so heartlessly by those people. I hope the kittens pull through this ok and make mommy proud. at least she knew your kindness and saw that sometimes humans can care...you did a brave thing standing up to those idiots at the house

Thanks Helen, we had no choice but to take them......the tenants said they were going to stop feeding them if they weren't moved, nobody else would take them, so at least she's been spared a painful death and the kittens have a chance, don't they   :(

Very sorry to hear this Shirley  It's a terrible shame when ANY cat has to be put to sleep but at least her ending was pain free and peaceful, if she had gotten ill while fending for himself with yet another litter of kittens in a bush then I'm sure her last days would be neither of those things

RIP Mum cat, safe and sound at the Bridge by now xx

My Charlie's mom tested positive for FELv, and she looked fine, yet he was ok. I know a lot of people have FIV cats so really don't know why the rescue pts......i can't believe they would pts a cat with no evidence..... :(

T, they did say the kittens would probably be ok......

I've read the other thread....heartbreaking  :'(

Shirley maybe the vet found something we dont know about, dont beat yourself up for caring and trying to help

Just a ray of hope over the years I have had 2 Fiv+ mums with kittens, I kept the kittens and had them tested at Glasgow, ALL kittens were negative. Thankfully Fiv is rarely passed from mother to kitten.
I too would have waited for Glasgow test but I did not offer help so not my choice, this rescue were the only one to offer and I am sure they are mourning mums death too. They cared where others didnt.

At the moment a national rescue is blatantly refusing to help stray /feral cats/kittens,when they do bother to go out they PTS even the tiniest kittens, I have proof of this.
The situation is going to get even worse unless more people open their hearts and homes and even then thousands will die needlessly.

There is usually no evidence of FIV and many peeps on Purrs have FIV cats. Its passed on with great difficulty and now there really is no reason to seperate FIV and normal cats, only in special circumstances/

Its just like a human who is HIV pos but in cats all the old tales still exist.

So there was no reason to PTS this cat and many live as long as any other cat with no side effects at all.

Also the FIV test at vets is very unreliable so needs to go to Glasgow for checking but of course this is extra money.

FeLv is different and can be passed much more easliy but am not up on the details. I dont think there is any evidence showing for this either, just the test unless the cat is ill.

I don't understand how this works....for vets to say a cat has  FIV/FELv surely there must be some evidence of it?  :-:

Thats just tragic and its likely the kittens will have it too but bet it was not a Glasgow test and therefore she may have been negative.

So  sorry after all the work this breaks my heart RIP Little Lady play hard on the Bridge and look after some kittens there

Very upset to say mom cat has been pts because she tested positive for FIV..... :'( :'( :'( :'(  Had a call at 4.45pm but needed to let Sue know first....... :'(
They  will keep the kittens (who they say are about 7 weeks old) until they're 5 months and then test them.......

I am gutted....... :'( :'(

Oh dear is this rescue a kill one if FIV?

I would hope not however better done humanely than kittens dying through cold and dehydration.

Sorry forgot to update-duh!!  :-[  Sue caught them all around 4.30pm yesterday and took them home to the hospital pen in her shed. She gave them 6 pouches of kitten food and a bowl of kitten biscuits, which had all been eaten by this morning........ :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:

We took them over to the rescue today........mom cat was taken for a blood test as we were leaving and i haven't been told the result yet..... :scared:

sorry just caught up on this thread as had the kids/halloween nightmare going on.
so sorry to hear about the baby, at least you tried to help him though ..agree about the person whos house it is, totally evil :censored:
what on earth must go on in the minds of people like that :'(
Im in northfield which is near bournville, selly oak etc if you know them at all, im not too far out from city centre , think its about 5miles? Im not from birmingham originally so my knowledge of other areas isnt too good either im afraid :shy:
I dont have a car though so wouldnt be able to travel to vets etc with any cats, kittens (mine have to go on bus with me poor things :shy:) I am however in most of the time besides the school run times so if i did have any mom cats stop over at least im always n hand to watch them. I do have 2 cats but they mainly dominate the bottom and middle floor now...they are trying to crack the oh and break into my bedroom :evillaugh:
I can only hope that the other kittens have a better chance :-[

I'm so worried about these cats, kittens smittens....just hope we can trap them on Wed morning..... :scared: A few months ago there were 3 moms and litters living in a shed at the house,  a pregnant female and an un-neutered male.......a 'rescue' took the ones that seemed ok and left the pregnant one and one mom with a litter that had such poorly eyes, they couldn't open them   :censored: :censored: :censored:

Thanks so much for the offer of your bathroom......not good on geography tho....what areas are in south Birmingham? No doubt we'll need you!

thats terrible to hear, how can anyone just leave the poor kittens stuck outside like that :censored:
I know not everyone are cat lovers but i dont understand people like that at all, to leave animals outside at such a young age is heart breaking :-[
I dont know much about fostering moms with kittens but if you are ever desperate for a spare room i have a bathroom upstairs that i dont use so dont mind offering space in an emergency. Im in south birmingham btw x

OMG little one who was stuck under the rubbish is now at the vets on a drip!!!   :'(  My friend has been ringing and texting these people all day, and not getting a reply  >:( FINALLY  he answered and said he'd managed to get the kitten out, so Sue went over......to find he'd put the kitten under the table outside!!!!!!!....the poor little thing was making a groaning noise, she thought it was dying!  :'(  Rushed it to the vets, who thinks it's only 5 weeks old.......What makes it worse is that the next door neighbour had taken it into her house but, because it 'messing everywhere' just put it back outside.....I don't understand these people....... :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:
