The point is Mary, there is something wrong with her! What is the vet doing, is he speaking to a specialist, this shouldnt be allowed to continue without him finding out what is wrong................you will be beating yourself up if it is something serious that could have been helped if caught early enough, please dont let this ride.

She is bleeding from somewhere and as you say she is going up and down.......is she insured? She needs to get the right treatment not just loads of abs which are being given hit or miss.

Sending loads more get well vibes for Bonnie

Sorry to hear this Mary, it's such a worry when they won't eat isn't it  Is there anything that you eat that she tries to steal normally (for my boys it's crispy duck and the only time they are locked out while I eat it!) - even if it's something not great nutrionally it's a means to an end to get food in her tummy and kick start her appetite

Good news about the blood results though  :)

:censored: I can't believe how many ups and downs I'm having with Bonnie.

When I brought her home on Monday we cuddled on the bed in the afternoon and she was ok at night too - even jumped on my keyboard on my desk  :wow:  But then I realised she had not had anything to eat or drink.

About 1.30 a.m. I was boiling cod, didn't want it, tin of tuna, didn't want it, chicken in white sauce, didn't want it. 3 flavours of gourmet, didn't want it.

All day Tuesday was the same and now she was walking around really slowly and not wanting to jump on the bed - I lifted her up on to the bed and she scratched me and jumped down.  I tried to get tablets in her mouth with her not eating her food and I had no luck.

Took her to the vet today and checked her eye and she didn't flinsh or pull away once, so clearly not hurting her.  Gave her 2 injections and said to bring her back on Monday but if she doesn't eat this evening/tonight or tomorrow morning to take her back tomorrow afternoon.

And the good news is her blood results are back and there is nothing wrong with her.  :Luv2:

Thanks for your comments everyone.  Problem with me is that I've never had a cat that's been ill.  Tibby was 26 and never ill, Smudge was never ill when he went missing and then I found him dead after a rta.

Because I have no experience I do not really know what to expect and Eddie has been a partner at the surgery for over 20 years and everyone speaks highly of him.  If she was in pain and not eating etc. I would really push for some quicker answer but I guess I'm going by how things are with humans and when we go to the doctor they give us something and then go back in 2 weeks cos it's not working and then they try somet else.

Bonnie's BP hasn't been taken but I guess he doesn't think it necessary - he does check her heart each time and I suppose that is related to BP?

Gill, the long time is bugguing me and that's why I mentioned it to Sally on Friday and again Eddie today about not having her on abs again and then stoping them only to have her go back to the begining. Maybe he wishes he'd done a blood test sooner but thought the abs would clear it up.

If only cats could talk and tell us how things happened and then we could treat them straight away without having to try things step by step.

 :thanks: everyone.

We have Max who jas just been diagnosed as Hyper thyroid and he is on tablets for another 11 days till we get him blood tested again to see when he can have his op

The blood pressure test is a waste of time if the cat is slightly stressed in anyway Max's was through the roof as was Caspers and he is a laid back ragdoll

The bloods can be done in house but the Hyper T test takes about 5 days to be done when sent away so thats about right really, thats what Max's was it was sent to Glasgow for a full panel as well as all the inhouse tests and some things can be masking the real issue so a full panel is a must

We can only hope that the Antibiotics work and we are sending :hug:s from all of us here at the Clan

Must be so worrying for you hun. I know with Mogs she had howling episodes and her back legs gave way and it turned out to be high blood pressure. I was told it can cause eye problems and after meds she was ok for years. Im sure your vet knows whats best though but dont be scared of asking questions. I hope Bonnie is ok

But unless Mary hasnt said , BP hasnt been taken and eye test isnt being done, only bloods and I feel that BP should have been taken at the beginning. I know I was lucky but back in London there was an eye vet attached to my vets so when Kocka had a problem her eyes were examined almost straight away

I agree a very long time for them to come back and at my vets I think its done on the premises unless there is a special test being done.

What really worries me is that it soon will be 4 weeks since this started.

Call me stupid but I dont see how kidneys or thyroid are causing something to bleed onto her eye,

Not as daft as it sounds Gill.  As has already been mentioned by others, high blood pressure is a common cause of bleeding into the eye in cats and unlike humans who can get high BP for no apparent reason, in cats it usually has an identificable cause, the most common being hyperthyroidism or renal disease.  Diabetes can also cause bleeding into the eye.   A blood test is easy to do and is a sensible first step in determining whether any of these are present and will also show if other parameters are abnormal.  More specific and difficult to perform tests can then follow if necessary.  I am a bit surprised that it takes a week to get the results though - even the NHS isn't that slow.

Sending lots of good wishes and positive vibes for Bonnie and plenty of these for you Mary.

Call me stupid but I dont see how kidneys or thyroid are causing something to bleed onto her eye, if is red blood then its new blood and presumably the bleeding is still happening.

Maybe you should ask to be referred to a specialist or at the very least your vet should talk with one?

Sounds like Eddie is fishing in the dark and to be frank doesnt have a clue.

I do hope for Bonnies sake eddie goes away and consults someone, I would not be very happy if it was my cat.

Thanks everyone.

Eddie examined her eye again and this is the 1st time that she hasn't flinshed.

He checked her heart and gave her body a good feel and also closed the blinds and had a good look in her eye.

He's almost certain it's not thyroids and he said that a scan of her eye might not show anything, it could be a virus which is needing more antibiotics than first thought or it could be her kidneys.

He's taken a blood sample from the front of her neck/throat - small bald patch to grow back. It should be a week to get the results and then he can hopefully treat her for something he knows is wrong with her.

The blood is just at the bottom of her eye and it's red and it's been like that since Friday and he seems to think it might stay like that  She could also see out of it better today too.

Yes I agree Gill - it's actually 3 weeks  :(

They did say the teeth might be causing it because they are bad and on Friday she said an eye scan might be advisable to see if it's something behind the eye that's causing it.

The black blood has gone now and it's fresh blood at the bottom of her eye.

I will ask more questions tomorrow.

Ta chuck.

You must push them Mary and ask questions..............like why no BP. why take teeth out, what is wrong with her etc etc.

Write down loads of questions, you need to have a handle on what they are thinking and why  and what meds are they giving.

Its so much to take in and remember when stressed.

To me and I am no expert or vet but black blood is old blood and sounds like she is bleeding somewhere and its leaking into or behind her eye.............question is where is she bleeding from...........a damaged or burst blood vessel?

There has to be a reason why they are doing what they are doing and where they are heading and they need to find out what is bleeding and stop it.........two weeks now??

Hope tomorrow goes well

Thanks very much to all of you great friends.

No they've not taken her BP or a blood test - maybe they know that will not give them the answer?

I don't like to push them but on Friday I had to ask what was the point in her going back on the meds if she was gonna go downhill again when she stops taking them.  She seems to think they will know more when they see her tomorrow - I ruddy well hope so.

I can't wait for her to be running around having a 'daft half hour' and playing with her toys and even scratching the settee and the sofa bed

I promise lots of photos Liz  ;)

Cheers everyone.

She's on the up part of the rollercoaster at the moment - had 2 pouches of food since 5.00 a.m. and I've laid on the bed with her all day stroking and kissing her.  She's been purring like crazy and about 1/2 a hour ago she came into the spare bedroom to lay on top of all my ironing that needs to done so I thought I'd come in here and come on Purrs for a bit.

:censored: I had to rush Bonnie to the vet this afternoon.  She was just like she was on day 1.  The vet gave her 3 injections this time and the last one she gave her she said it would sting and boy oh boy did it.  Never seen Bonnie growl and hiss like that before, my little angel turned into the devil.  It seemed like for ever but was probably less than 30 seconds. So I've got some more anti-biotics and pain killer to give her and go back on Monday.

On Momday they may decide if she is to have the teeth out or to do an eye scan to see if there is anything at the back of her eye that might be causing this. I asked if it would be better to take the teeth out now instead of giving her antibiotics and then her being ok and then going down hill like she did today.  Sally said it's better to take the teeth out when there isn't a build up of blood and that's why I have to see how things go over the weekend.

I thought cos all the black blood had gone she was on the mend but Sally said that today there's been a new build up of blood and that's why she was in pain.

The starange thing is that she's been eating and drinking since I got her home and she even wacked her mouse as she passed it, but diddn't play with it properly.  I've been laid on the bed with her since 5.00 p.m. and just had the chance now to come on here while she's asleep.

Thanks Mary,
It comes & goes at times, found out at the last vet visit she had cat flu, something that the ASSISI didn't tell me nor is in her medical records I've got.(Good job I cancelled the Petplan or I'd have been throwing money away!)
