That's really awful, I'm so sorry. Can you let us know the name of the facebook group you set up so we can join? I've just been to Sainsburys and noticed they have lots of Bob Martin stuff there. We really need to let people know especially at the moment as it's tempting to use cheaper treatments when moneys tight.

So sorry to hear about Mazie  The problem with such a well known brand is that people presume that it is safe and effective, especially as it is sold in reputable pet shops and big name supermarkets.

Would be interested to hear what the manufacturer have to say about this when they get back to you again

ill never use the so called cheap versions as firstly the vets right when he says dont use this type as u get what u pay for which is right i suppose .
i even overhaerd a sales assistant in pets at home to some one a while back saying dont go for the cheap one as its a waste of time dosent work  :-: use the frontline far better  its a wonder bob martin havent been hit with a massive fine or something ..
again so sorry for your loss hope everyone takes note of this ....

  • Here come the boys!!!!
Sadly unless its prescribed by a vet I wouldn't use it - sometimes its false economy that drives folks to use this sort of preparation

 :welcome: to Purrs,

I'm so sorry for your loss.  As others have said we have heard about this problem before sadly and totally agree this product should be banned.  Whilst it is readily available people will continue to buy it as they assume it is safe to be used on their pets.
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

thanks so much,i have made a face book group and already have so much support.i have had 5 emails from differnet people helping me and ive also been asked to contact bbc watchdog,so i am trying my hardest to gather evidence and people willing to help me out.i have recieved repsonse from bob martin but i wasnt happy so i have re mailed and am awaiting response.i bought my pets treatment from pets at home and as i have the packaging and recipt they can not deny selling it me.my vets are also willing to admit mazie passed but cant confirm it was bob martin...although they are know it was.

So Sorry for your loss  How is your other kitten?

ive heard this before- on here and from vets. Sadly its not well known in the general public where it is felt that if its available in supermarkets it must be safe. the rules that govern what testing is required for animal products are very lax compared to what is required for human products.
i would write to everyone you can- local and national papers, cat clubs and magazines, supermarkets and retailers- especially the one you purchased from. i know many have done this before but the more that do, the more likely it is that they will act. Bob martin seem to be aware but while they can sell their products they continue to.

Afraid we on Purrs have put out many warnings about this and am so sorry for your loss, w.hat was the kittens name?

RIP little one.

Our advice is is to never use over the counter flea treatment unless it is Frontline, used to be easy until Frontline got licenced for sale over the counter.

The product that you used has caused many deaths and hope that your vet has reported it and you have contacted Bob Martin about this.

Also flea collars are not good either and can cause lots of problems around the neck.

Afraid its low cost v higher cost but the latter is the way to go for the safety of your cats.

hi just signed up to this as you have been suggested to be the place to help me.i have just lost one of my two kittens after applying bob martin flea treatment for kittens and cats..within minutes they were both fitting and foaming at the mouth,on arrival to the vets i was concerned that they were already aware of the effects of this product..as they have seen the results many times.i am trying hard to make owners aware of the product and also trying to get the company to re package due to the details of what can happen not being on!!! all comments and suggestions would be helpful..thanks for your time
