poor mum cat, she is beautiful but looks so tiny - the babies did make me a bit kitten broody which doesn't often happen!

We have had more new arrivals, an incredible 6 kittens born to a small 8 month old mum. She had a bit of a shaky start but is being a fantastic mum now and the babies are doing well. Short video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhKJE9zsncU

We have had an excellent few weeks of rehoming, all our previous kittens have gone to fantastic new homes, however as usual we have more

Clancey (left) and Gideon are two tough little boys who were found dumped at around 6 weeks old. They had severe cat flu which has resulted in both losing an eye, Gideon also had to have a corneal graft operation to save his remaining eye. They are sweet, affectionate, playful boys who have overcome everything that has came their way in their short lives. They need to be homed together and will need to be house cats due to Gideon's restricted vision.

Hickory (top), Pecan (left) and Filbert are 17 weeks old, they are quite timid at present but are starting to show their characters. Although they were raised in a home environment they have had minimal handling and also had to share their home with unfriendly dogs so they are understandably a bit shy.

We have homed our Maine Coon boy but all the others are still here, eight in total as Collie was returned to us when his owners split up  :( All are now neutered.

We have also rescued a young grey female and a mum with five 5-day-old kittens that were seriously underweight and infested with fleas and worms. They are recovering well and the babies are now thriving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLNymN-_7CY

All the kittens mentioned on this thread have now been homed, however, we do have more!

Bitsy was reunited with some of her friends when she was rehomed by the lovely family who took Wiggy and Weevy (now called Eric and Ernie).

Our three Hallowe'en kittens all went to live on a beautiful farm in Aylesbury.

We now have 3 tabby youngsters all around 6 months old and have just taken in a young female stray who is due to give birth any day now.

Photos of our current cats available for adoption are on our website http://www.bluecross.org.uk/2574/adopt-a-cat.html or check out our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Blue-Cross-Cumbria-Foster-Team/247407515278688

We have recently taken in two ten-day-old kittens rescued from a building site, they are doing really well and are beautiful grey tabby girls. This takes our current kitten total to 13, our fosterer's house is absolute bedlam

Oh no, that's all you need is pet shops selling them! I think selling animals in shops should be banned.
Any enquiries I'll fling them your way ;) P.M me your number etc sometime.

Yes we are based in Carlisle. Any enquiries would be welcome at the moment, with both pet shops here doing a roaring trade in kittens no one is interested in rescue cats  :(

Where abouts in Cumbria are you? I'm guessing near Carlisle? We are based near Kendal. I sometimes get calls for kittens from Dumfries and the Carlisle area so I could pass them on to you if you like.

Kittens galore in Cumbria!
« Reply #1 on: July 09, 2011, 14:29:59 PM »

Our Cumbria foster team took in two litters of kittens in May whose mothers had been intentionally killed by dogs.
One litter were just old enough to manage solids and the other were only around 10 days old - luckily we had a nursing queen in our care and she took these abandoned little ones on with her own kitten.

The older litter will be ready for adoption around 15th July following their 1st vaccination and are as follows:

Nymph (in photo above) - female black and white (mostly white), very girly, affectionate and playful
Earwig - male black with white "trimmings", sweet and cuddly
Weevil - male, almost identical to his "twin" above, cheeky and loving

The younger litter will be ready for adoption around 29th July following their 1st vaccination and are as follows:

Tansy - female grey tortie, very confident and playful, beautifully marked
Sage - female black and white with black "smudge" on her nose, affectionate
Teasel - male black with white "trimmings", cheeky and cuddly
Laurel - female black and white, the litter"s runt, very sweet and affectionate

Also available are

Bitsy Mittens was born in her Blue Cross foster home on 16th May. Her mum only had one kitten but was soon called upon to help with a litter of four more who whose mother was killed by dogs - so Bitsy found herself with a brother and sisters!

Bitsy is a beautiful kitten, black with white "trimmings" and the most lovely of faces. She is confident and playful and very eager to have cuddles and tummy rubs. She loves her foster siblings and would love to take one with her to a new home....

Bitsy will be available to adopt around the 22nd of July following her first vaccination when she will be 9wks old.

Crosby is a handsome male kitten of around 8wks old. He is black with white "trimmings" and a very endearing face and small ears! He is quiet, playful and a purrs when he gets his cuddles.

Crosby was found abandoned stray in the grounds of a local nursery. He is such a friendly and confident boy despite a rough start to life - he came to us covered in lice eggs, ticks and with worms too!
He enjoys the company of the other kittens but would adapt to being the only mog if you have the time and love to give him.

Crosby will be available to adopt around the 5th of July following his first vaccination when he will be 9wks old.

Cricket is a gorgeous male kitten looking for a home. He is black with white "trimmings" and has soft, quite fluffy fur. He is very affectionate and avidly climbs up you to get cuddles and kisses.

Cricket was found abandoned stray and his brother had sadly been killed. He is so friendly and confident despite his tough start and will make an amazing family member. He loves the company of the other kittens but would adapt to being the only mog if you have the time and love to give him.

Cricket will be available to adopt around the 15th of July following his first vaccination when he will be 9wks old.

Handsome Finn was found as a stray, he is a striking semi long hair tabby and white. He is a gentle, loving cat who loves the company of other cats but is also quite independent. He is around 12 weeks old and will be ready to go following vaccination and microchipping.

The kittens are in The Blue Cross Rehoming Foster Scheme. If you are interested in giving any of them a home please call 0300 456 8500 selecting your region. Alternatively you can email petfost10@bluecross.org.uk

Please visit www.bluecross.org.uk to see all of the cats and kittens looking for homes in your area.
