Ok well I just watched the video and that explains it a little more. So sad, I was watching it with tears in my eyes.

I think if it was Ella and Archie, I wouldn;t be able to leave them and would probably risk my own life.

It seems there is decontamination that can be done, so not sure if it is financial or what that is stopping them. So sad that video :(

It's a sad state but surely they have to, Wouldn't anything living in the region be radioactive and would probably have long term health issues and I am not expert but would they be able to transfer that to possible healthy animals and risk the food chain becoming comprimised.

I am not a expert, and it truly upsets me so sorry if i seem heartless.

Received the following email via ADCH this morning.

URGENT update 1st May 2011
 
Reported on the news yesterday, the Japanese Government will allow one or two family members, after the end of Golden Week, (29th April - 8th May) to enter the 20k zone to collect personal possessions. However NO PETS or other ANIMALS can be taken out. This means that all animals will be left in the zone to starve.
 
Our lawyer contacted us today asking that ARK appeals to individuals and organisations abroad to put pressure, through Japanese Embassies, on the Japanese Government, to reconsider this decision and to let people take out their pets and other animals.
 
We are shocked that the Japanese Government is acting in this inhumane manner and ask everyone to put maximum pressure, by whatever means on this Government.
