Thanks everyone.       well vet was pretty pleased wih him last night.      He had actually put a bit of weight on [which is not due to the steroids].   As a result of this we are going to stop the mirtazapine and see how he does eating without it.    Vet says at some point he will stop eating and we will need it then.      He's coming to Glastonbury with us again this morning which he seems to enjoy due to getting the undivided attention of us and lots of treats.

Some days he'll eat his webbox with the tablets in, other days he won't.

Hi

That might be why you aren't seeing an improvement, although check with you vet tomorrow
Good luck tomorrow xx

he's about the same thanks can't say that I see any change in him for the better since he has been on the steroids etc.      Some days he'll eat his webbox with the tablets in, other days he won't.       I think he's probably eating a bit less overall.    Although he stuffed his face last night with some raw organic beef no problem!      back down to the vets for a checkup tomorrow with him

Thats quite a high doze of steroids, glad they are kicking in and he is eating something.
They also act as a painkiller and also give the cat a sense of "well being" (well thats what my vet told me)

Big kisses to Ginger xx

Another one pleased to hear he's eaten something  Hope the steroids kick in and do their job, I know when Tiggy was on steroids her appetite used to go through the roof and she really perked up.

She used to have an injected cortico-steroid around once a month, might be an option for Ginger if he's twigging on to the tablets?

Yes Rosella I was really worried that he hadn't eaten and thought we might of been making that decision very soon.      He has eaten again this morning and had his tablets in his webbox no problem at all.     Wondering if he didn't actually like the webbox flavour we tried yesterday.

thanks Stuart it means a lot to me that you post on this thread given your recent loss.       Ginger has just eaten a reasonable amount of food.      Gave him his tablets mashed up in primula cheese, which he seemed to like.     Perhaps he had cottoned onto fact we were hiding medicine in his webbox.

Thanks everyone.       Ginger is not too good this morning he isn't even having his treats.      Hoping that he will feel better once his meds have kicked in but not overly optimistic

I lost my Issey to Lymphoma, she was only 5yrs old.
Steroids will give you more time, have a chat with your vet about which route you take.

I am so so sorry for you and Ginger  :'( :'(

Oh hell, that's crap. I lost my last cat, Jones, to lymphoma - although he wasn't diagnosed till very late so I didn't get much time with him.

Really sorry to hear this - how old is Ginger?

Thanks everyone.      I always knew he would never make an old cat due to his heart murmur, and have been saying for years he could go at any time.       So i guess its a little easier to accept.      He's going to have lots of webbox, thrive ertc thats for sure in the time he's got left.

I am sorry to hear that Ginger is so unwell. I think they are given a special twilight time free of any suffering to say their goodbyes. You can live a lifetime in a short space of time if it is filled with love and Gingers time will be.
