Good News
When we wrote to tell you that the directors of Nocton Dairies Ltd had withdrawn their application for a 3,700 cow mega-dairy in Lincolnshire, we cautiously celebrated the news.
We knew that their two other applications, for a pipeline and reservoir on the same site, remained active. And Nocton Dairies’ own press release justified our instinct to keep a watchful eye for developments:
“Our farm at Nocton is a tremendous site with much potential for the future, so we won’t be selling it, but will now be taking some time to consider our options. Watch this space...”

Fortunately, with your support, Compassion had taken the important initiative of making specific objections to all three planning applications from the beginning. We knew that as long as plans for the reservoir and pipeline remained ‘live’, the door was potentially open for another attempt to erect a mega-dairy in the area.

More Good News
We are thrilled to report that both the remaining planning applications have now been rejected by North Kesteven District Council. After months of hard work and thanks to your unrelenting support, the first attempt to bring a US-style mega-dairy to the UK really has been defeated.

Help us celebrate
Over the past year, the Cows Belong in Fields campaign has been a powerful force for good because of the determination of local Lincolnshire group CAFFO and because of you, our committed supporters. Thank you.
To mark this achievement, we’d like to ask you to vote for your campaign in The Observer Ethical Awards 2011. The Observer is seeking nominations for Campaigner of the Year – and that can, collectively, mean all of us!
How to place your vote
1.   Click on this link - https://www.global-research.net/oea/votes-start.php
2.   Scroll down to Campaigner of the Year and enter the following information:
Campaigner (UK only): Compassion in World Farming
Name of Campaign, or campaigning issue: Cows belong in fields.

Let’s share our success and promote our work to stop the spread of mega-dairies in the UK.

Signed.
You can't change the world by rescuing one cat, but for that one cat you are changing its world.

Please cross-post and put on Facebook etc. Cows belong in fields, not factories!

I do wish people would word petitions properly though. I doubt the cows live in "filthy disease-ridden stalls" etc. This kind of amateurish emotive wording stops petitions being taken seriously.

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain
