I became allergic to cats after playing with a very fluffy long haired cat - eyes swollen up so bad couldn't actually see.  Never was allergic to anything before.

That was years ago and I've learnt to deal with it - have to be careful, no major cuddling, wash hands afterwards, remember not to put head on sofa pillows as they've slept there etc and if all else fails anti-histamine tablets and eye drops are great.  But I'm an adult and I'd rather deal with the faff because I love my babies to bits and I think they're worth it.   But I'm an adult and people are paranoid when it comes to kids and would rather take the animal away than learn to deal with it, though with asthma it can be unfortunately the only option.

Not sure but I know you can just become allergic to anything at any time, I once got an allergy from something I'd always used and my GP said you get an allergy to a wedding ring which has been worn for years and years.
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

Fair points, Ela. I'm just pointing out that some people are pretty devastated because they have no option but to part with a pet that they love. We can't always assume they're "evil doers" just because we'd find it impossible to part with our nutty cats!

Or it could just be allergic! There's not always a sinister motive.

I agree however, I think sometimes people do not even try the suggestions that could perhaps enable them to keep the cat and in reality just do not want it or more usually them any more.

9 year old female healthy and dressed tortoiseshell needs a new home due to a child’s allergies.  She is nervous of young children.  Please call Susan direct on 01506 500 137 if you can offer her a home.

Near falkirk

Got email yesterday about this wee cat & also phoned for permission to post here.
